Our group had bourbon selections from the bar with bourbon ball ice balls.
We did bacon wrapped dates & brussel sprouts to start.
The burger was fantastic, not classic, but a great salty and tangy twist on a fan favorite. The fries were okay, well good, but missing the wow factor from the rest of the menu.
Friendly staff, clean restaurant and great location
This restaurant is nestled away in what appeared to be downtown Manhattan. From the outside, it appeared it was just going to be like a mom and pop shop, which we really enjoy anyway! Upon our entry it was immediately evident this was far from ordinary. The size was very small yet comfortable. It was cozy yet very modern and a very familiar feeling like you have always been there. The bar looked well stocked with the bartender awaiting an order.
We get to our table and were promptly greeted by our very attentive and extremely friendly Waiter. Once he knew it was our first time, he took the time to break down the menu which was very unique and refreshing.
Now to the good stuff, the food! We started off with the potatoes Bravo. We had no idea what it was but was highly recommended. Once it was brought out, our confusion was setting in a bit trying to figure out exactly what it was. Honestly it didn’t matter, it was incredible. Flavors and spices were present in ways never practiced on a potato with a red sauce that could nearly be eaten and enjoyed by itself. We crushed it quickly and happily.
Next was the entree. She had the bistro steak and I had the bolognease. As soon as they were brought out, I immediately wished I had gotten the steak. Not because mine wasn’t good, but hers was absolutely phenomenal. Mine was similar to a lasagna or spaghetti with a delicious taste and great pasta. Hers came with a steak, a fine cut potato below it and grilled cauliflower. I never realized potatoes could be cut that fine and the steak had a flavor that can not truly be described other than saying it was delicious and had what felt like a shadow flavor that was unknown as well. She absolutely loved the cauliflower and said the texture was perfect instead of a typical squishy vegetable.
We finished it off with the chocolate cheese cake topped with marshmallow and an orange sauce. It was so soft and rich in flavor. Not too hard yet not too soft either. The orange flavor is faint yet present and the marshmallow compliments the cake extremely well.
If you want a treat, this is the place to go. It is fine dining in an unexpected location. Big city flavor in a small town vibe. Could not recommend any higher! Amazing!
Thanks for a great experience and a fantastic meal!
Enjoyed myself very much. …
The menu rotates a bit so there’s always something new to try and if you have concerns Caleb, the owner and cook, will come speak with you to make sure everything is cooked how you want it or need it.
Also the bar serves some unique cocktails and has a great staff to make high quality drinks that complement the meals. This is the best
restaurant in Manhattan in my opinion and I’ve been living here for a long time.
