We decided to eat at The Turn Restaurant & Lounge in Marion and we were not disappointed! All of our food was excellent. I got the apple glazed bone in pork chop, My mom and my niece picked the glazed salmon, My sister got the stuffed chicken breast, and my other niece got the Sunday fried chicken special. We all tried a little of each other’s food and couldn’t believe how tasty all the dishes were. Even though we were completely stuffed, we decided to order some dessert to share. Turtle cheesecake, warm Krispy Kreme bread pudding, apple tart topped with cinnamon ice cream, and lemon ricotta cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Wow!!! We couldn’t decide which one we liked better! I highly recommend this place and will definitely return

After living in Southern Illinois for 18 years. I finally decided to check out The Turn. My wife wanted to try the place out for our anniversary. Unfortunately neither she nor I realized this is basically just a bar and grill with mediocre at best food. I guess we let the “reservations suggested” statement and the fact the place is located in Kokapeli fool us. We realized too late we should have stuck with our usual, Mary’s in Herrin.

There’s two parking lots, one on either side of the building, and neither conveniently located to the entrance of The Turn, which is at the back of the building, midway between the two lots. No matter which lot you choose the closest you can park to the entrance is maybe 50 yards. We were twice that from where we parked, which wouldn’t have been a big deal other than it was 11°F outside and windy. We finally made it inside and were sat at a high top table located literally less than five feet from the door. Did I mention it was 11°F outside and windy? We almost called Mary’s to see if we could get a last minute reservation, but the wife decided to persevere. We asked if we could be moved to any other of the many empty tables (we were one of three parties in the establishment), and we were told that was the only table available, but we could sit at the bar…. for our eleventh wedding anniversary. Eventually a manager came over and offered to move us to a two seater table they could set up on the other side of the room and we accepted. They also comped the bill 10% which was nice but not needed.

The food was a mixed bag. My wife got the mushroom swiss burger and Koko chips and was pleased with both. She wants me to point out that she appreciated gluten free items being clearly marked on the menu. I ordered the 6oz fillet and asparagus and was disappointed. The fillet was fairly bland, not seared and slightly overcooked. The fillet I make at home from Sam’s bought meat are infinitely better. The asparagus was fairly good.

My wife wants to give The Turn another shot. Left to my own devices, I would not go back. I do know that I will not order anything more than a burger or an appetizer there in the future.

Overall giving it a 5/5!
We were on a road trip back home and decided to stop here because it was open late. Did have issues finding the place because there were no like definitive signs until you walked up the small hill. Also felt like we stuck out like a sore thumb because this place looked and felt boujee HOWEVER, it was delicious. It is on the pricey side but we were splurging due to birthday. Left full and satisfied for sure. Very clean place and nice staff as well. Will be visiting again!

Great flavors all around! Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal and would go back again. Personally, I had the fish & chips and just want to start by saying the hush puppies were perfection (I wanted more!), the fish was great also, thick filets with a good amount of breading, KO KO chips were crunchy. Definitely going back to try another dish. Staff was friendly and attentive and the manager came to check on us (which seems to be a thing of the past at most restaurants these days, in my opinion). Definitely recommend eating here!

The Turn is an excellent place to dine. The food is always excellent and the service is spectacular. I usually go for the wings or a burger when I dine here. Today, I tried a blackened chicken & gouda sandwich they were testing out for the menu. It was fantastic! I hope they keep it around. I also love their house chips. They are tasty and super crisp. If you are looking for a fabulous meal, I highly recommend the Turn.

My first time here. I ordered a garlic honey glazed salmon. It was sooo good, served over rice. My wife ordered a stuffed chicken that she said was really good.c My step-daughter ordered a chicken parm, but she said it wasn’t that good. The atmosphere was wonderful, service was great, and facility very clean. The menu was the perfect size – not too big, not too small.

It was a challenge getting to this place. There are no signs that guide you where it is tucked away. When we did finally get inside, they seated us at a table, that was two small tables that were pushed together. One table was a half in inch higher than the other, so it was interesting to see your plate lopsided on the table. We fought off flies for the entire experience. I’ve never seen so many flies in a restaurant. When the food arrived, it looked amazing and tasted great. Everything tasted great. Everything except the desert. The lava cake was so dry, it was difficult to eat without having to wash it down. We might try this place again sometime, but it isn’t on our list anytime soon.

The food was okay, the service was definitely lacking. In our party of 6 it took our waitress a solid 45 minutes to let us know our food would be out shortly and ended up being over an hour total to get our food, one of our party did not get their food for another 10 minutes. It wasnt acknowledged until the 3rd time our server came around, and wasnt acknowledged when management came by either. I’m really disappointed to have been treated this way because i’ve heard nothing but good things about this place. I don’t think I’ll be back.

Our poor waitress was the only one working that night, so it took a little bit to get drink refills. Otherwise, I think our entire party enjoyed the food and had a really good time.

Quality experience every time we eat here. The servers are super attentive and I’ve never had any issues with the food. The atmosphere is fancy but the price tag isn’t.
