The Red Asian Fusion (HongYun) is such a good spot. The food comes out fresh and packed with flavor, and the portions are very generous. Everything feels super well prepared and you can tell they use good ingredients. The vibe of the restaurant is welcoming too, which makes it a great place to eat with friends or just chill and enjoy a meal.

Lovely and delicious restaurant! If you’re looking for a fusion food experience, top notch service, quick but quality food, come here! All the items we had ordered were very tasty. The spicy dishes are nicely balanced and not over powering. The space is well used and very clean. Be wary about the amount of food you order, they are generous with the portions. The dishes aren’t overly expensive and you’ll leave a happy person!

For years now, my favorite chinese resto is that very old one in Bedford Highway. My wife and I just stumbled last weekend into this little Asian fusion restaurant across Westin hotel in downtown Halifax on a no-plan, just walk-in and eat thing. We just ordered 2 different combo meals (we played safe) and one pork belly sweet and sour. Surprise! Authentic, big-serving and truly Asian food treat! We were absolutely pleased and satisfied and agreed that Red is the best Asian fusion resto we’ve ever been in Halifax! We will be back for sure!

Food is deeply intertwined with culture, and culture cannot exist without people. During my recent dining experience, I forgot to ask for the name of our server. However, I must mention that she treated us like her own family and ensured that we received the same level of service as everyone else. She even went out of her way to share Chinese culture with guests from other nationalities. I overheard her telling the other table about Chinese-style candy, and it was heartwarming to see her spreading cultural awareness. I definitely will be back here, not only for the food but also for the people and atmosphere. Thanks

This place wasn’t the best. The food was okay but the service was really bad. We watched customers who came in after us get served their food before us. I also got my food 10+ minutes before the other people at our table. Waitress never came back once to check if we needed water refills (we did) and at one point she was just sitting in a booth playing on an electronic she we still didn’t have our food. Also paid $15 for a bowl of soup which I got as my main and it was soo small. I wouldn’t have paid $15 if I’d known how small it would be and definitely wouldn’t have gotten it as my main. It was fine, just not worth the price or wait

We came on the opening day so it was extremely busy (as to be expected). Even though we did end up waiting a while for the food, it was well worth the wait. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were generous. The staff was really busy as the restaurant was never not full but we’re all very friendly. The prices were on point and the venue was very clean. We will definitely be coming back.

5/5 stars! Hong Yun’s food, atmosphere and customer experience, all in unison, is namely one of the best in Halifax. My Chinese friend said their food reminds him of his hometown. The Red’s customer service is somewhat Asian style, meaning they might not pamper you with “how’s everything?” every 15 minutes, but their staff are available whenever you have questions, comments or requests. With international friends I came to eat here too and we always had a great time here. No need to say I am a regular to this restaurant for several years in a row. Chicken dishes may have bones but that’s Chinese style cooking; ask before ordering! But try their “Beef with eggplant” with some rice. Highly recommended.
