Loved this spot for a couple of sunset drinks. We tried four and all were good. The ones with vanilla cream are super sweet. The mai tai was great. Get it for the cherry for the geckos! The guys that worked here were super nice and attentive. A great couple hours people (and gecko) watching at sunset.

The beer was cold. The food was hot. The bar tender was friendly. Hamburger was tasty, the ahi and shrimp bites were seasoned nicely. All was good. The other patrons were friendly too. The only negative was that someone threw up close by, and the smell waffted into the restaurant.

This adorable lively place had the BEST ono I had the whole time I was in Kona. The slaw under the fish was equally delicious. This unassuming place was the perfect afternoon bite. Fantastic service. Great views. Perfection.

Looking for a bar with eats and a ocean view? One bites were awesome and we are coming back for the burgers. Seating is limited but definitely worth a try. It also has Hawaiian local brews as well.

Love this little bar and grill. Chill and grab an amazing burger and some oni bites, or just sip on a Pina Colada or cold beer. The burgers are actually some of the best we’ve had on the island – no joke. Great service and chill atmosphere. We make it a stop whenever we’re on this side of the island.

Stopped in at Da Shark Shack while walking along Ali‘i Drive and glad we did. It’s a chill little bar right on the water with an unbeatable view of the sunset. The place has that dive bar feel in the best way—laid back, open air, and colorful.

I sat at the bar facing Ali‘i Drive and loved it. The geckos came over to hang out while I had my drink, which just added to the fun island vibe.

The staff was friendly and the service was quick. Drinks were strong and priced well, especially for Kona.

If you are looking for a relaxed spot with a view, good drinks, and a bit of local character, this place is worth a stop.

A lively and cosy bar with great ocean view despite being separated by the main road. You probably will see geckos climbing onto your table which is an amazing experience. Shop owner is friendly. Price point is decent. The shrimp bite dish is flavorful (from garlics) and would be what I would recommend ordering. The chicken wings are quite good but not exceptional. Maitai cocktail is strong (lots of liquor). The blue neon light gives a clubbing feel which is quite interesting. Would recommend seeing sunset here. Free parking at an outdoor lot one street uphill (30 seconds walk).

This bar is the perfect mix of laid-back charm and quality. The drinks are excellent—well-made, flavorful, and served just right. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with great ocean view that adds to the overall experience without feeling over the top. The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel genuinely welcome, and the food is surprisingly good for a place that focuses on drinks. It’s the kind of spot where you can unwind, enjoy good company, and have a great time without any pretension.

Our favorite place! This was the second summer we have been able to visit Big Island and we went to Da Shark Shack almost every night both times we visited. Between the view, the drinks, the geckos, and the ono bites you can’t find a better place! We only wish we tried the ono bites sooner(we didn’t have them during our first trip.) Can’t wait to come back!

(Last visited 12/14/2022.) On a Norwegian cruise around the Hawaiian islands and today’s stop was in Kona! While exploring “The Big Island” on the Kona side we saw this restaurant with these big giant signs out front that said “WINGS” on it. Well, they worked because if you invested that much money into them signs to bring me in, they better be good…

Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is so cool and so chill. It has amazing views that look right out over the ocean and toward the cruise ports. The whole thing gives me tiki hut vibes and to delivers them very well.

Service: I can’t remember the young lady that took care of us, but she was great. Super friendly, bubbly, uplifting and made sure we had everything that we needed.

Food: So upon walking in you see a popcorn machine! I’m a sucker for some freshly popped corn so I got some! It’s complimentary of course. It was salted well and just gets your palate ready for more food! My first beer was the Cocoa Brown Beer from the Kona Brewing Company (located close by actually). The beer was very dark, but not too thick like a port or stout. It tasted like an IPA and a port had a baby, a lil’ swirl action. It also had a bit of a chocolatey flavor to it that I was a fan of. I just didn’t like the bitterness of the IPA part. Our first flavor of wings were the Kona Gold. The wings were of a decent size and reminded me of a honey mustard. They were cooked well and the meat came off the bone pretty easily. These were a golden BBQ sauce basically, but the sauce kinda left my taste buds pretty quickly. Next up were the Hawaiian Chile & Garlic wings. These looked like a typical sweet Thai chili sauce. However, there was a good crisp on the skin of the wing, there was a great deal of the sweet Thai flavor that blended well with the garlic. Last, but not least were the Hot wings. A classic. These definitely smelled hot and had the spiciness to back it up. The spice came in right up front and lingered for quite a while. I was pleasantly surprised with these.

Value: For Hawaii, this place was actually very affordable. 6 wings for $10.00 and 10 wings for $20.00. The popcorn was free of course and the beer was, I don’t remember. Lol.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for Hawaiian food, you could bypass this place, but if you’re looking for a little bit of home, some familiarity, some decent wings and good beer, check this place out!
