I have heard time and time again that San Diego had the best Mexican food and I agree. While I’ve lived here for 4 years, I have always just had my go to spots. Today I decided to try a new place and I’m so glad I did!
De Cabeza had such great reviews on here so I decided to try them out. I walked in and they seated me right away. They were very sweet and kind and the restaurant itself was very inviting. There were lots of decorations on the walls of Mexican ranch style decor as well.
I ordered a couple tacos de Maciza (head meat), Langua (tongue), El Dorado Pastor (matinated meat asada), and chicharron prensado (pork belly). I also got a quesadilla soy carne asada. The meciza was so tender, great flavor and the tortilla was freshly made ao it was nicely holding a the flavors. The Langua was very tender and also an enjoyable bit. The el Dorado Pastor taco hit me with so much flavor it was delicious! But then the heat snuck up on me. It was pretty spicy! Really enjoyable and packed either flavor! The tacos de Maciza (head meat), Langua (tongue), El Dorado Pastor (matinated meat asada), and chicharron prensado (pork belly). was well marinated and super tender finely chopped pork belly with a tiny touch of heat as well! I think it was my favorite honestly I wasn’t expect it to be so good. And the quesadilla with carne asada was pretty decent, the cheese melted nicely too.
I appreciated how quickly the food came out, the access to salsa and lots of limes on the table and the water which the server ensured my cup stayed full.
Over all I’m so glad I tried somewhere new, it was exactly what I was looking for! Ill definitely be back soon!

Very chill atmosphere but way nicer than most taco shops. Owner and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Now the food…. I am guilty of sticking to the basics so I tried the asada and pastor tacos since it was my first time. Didn’t disappoint!!! The meat had abeautiful char taste in every bite and the smoked habanero salsa is amazing. I cant wait to go back and try his cabeza specialty.

I was apprehension about driving all the way to chula from north county but it was so worth it. I got cabeza, lengua, tripa, and cochinita tacos, all were so good with cabeza being my fav! The owner came out to talk with us and he was so nice, you can also hear him singing every once in a while. Feels like family!

Literally got off a plane an hour ago and came here after landing from Canada. You must come here, you must eat the meat, you must eat the tacos. You must eat the food. It is absolutely out of this world.
Try the tongue tacos you won’t be disappointed…. Yes, I said tongue

11/10. This place is an incredibly unique taco experience and a San Diego hidden gem. The lamb head was insane and some of the best tacos I’ve ever had, the meat was tender and flavorful and the portion could easily feed 2-4 people. Such a great deal especially because it includes their incredible corn tortillas, onions and cilantro, and salsa. They can prepare the meat for you if you’d like (without having to see the head). I asked them to show me the head first and then prepare it and they were happy to accommodate. The staff are incredible, super friendly and you could tell they love their food and getting to share it. If you’re looking for a unique, adventurous, and delicious Mexican food experience this is the place! I can’t wait to come back. (They also have all the traditional taco and other delicious food too if cabeza is too adventurous for ya)

I had been wanting to try this place for a while because cabeza is my favorite taco! We were recommended to order a pound of meat for our party of five (one child). It came with broth for the adults and good quality tortillas. We also ordered chapulines (grasshoppers), taco de sesos (brain), de chicharrón, de cochinita pibil, and taquitos dorados. Se wanted to try lengua as well so we added 1/2 of lengua. Everything was delicious! Cabeza is a very tender meat, fatty, buttery, with lots of flavor. Lengua was also very tender and was my kid’s favorite. Chapulines we’re crunchy, seasoned with salt and lemon, and a little bit spicy. Both of their salsas were also great.
We enjoyed the ambiance. There’s plenty of parking in this shopping center. The waitresses kept checking on us and making sure we were taken care of. The owner also came by and checked on us. They have a large selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I highly recommend this spot in Chula Vista!

A friend recommended this place to me and I was very impressed!!
Everything was tasty but for me the two standouts were the Cochinita pibil (super juicy and flavorful) and the huitlacoche which had that delicious umami flavor.
Reasonably priced and fast service. The restaurant was small and clean. I will definitely be coming back

Absolutely amazing tacos, truly and authentically Mexican. They have proper clamatos, good cold beer, and a great atmosphere. If you’re looking to have a good time and enjoy some real Mexican-style food, this is the spot. Don’t bother looking anywhere else.
I tried the cochinita pibil, cabeza, pastor, and carne asada tacos, all of them were excellent. Personally, I lean more towards carne asada and cabeza, and those two were definitely my favorites. Great service, awesome vibe, and 100% worth it. Highly recommended.
