Went here with the hubby and OMG — this place is absolutely stunning! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was sexy, elegant, and full of energy. The décor is chic and romantic — every corner feels Instagram-worthy. The servers were beyond attentive, friendly, and made us feel like VIPs all night. The food? Pure perfection — packed with flavor and the perfect balance of spices. And don’t even get me started on the tiramisu… it’s heaven in a bite! Can’t wait to come back for round two. ✨

Warmly greeted as a walk-in on a Sunday night. Great atmosphere (YES, there’s a photobooth). Delicious; Had the bucatini, meatballs, canellini beans, two orders of focaccia (which was almost Hawaiian butter-mochi-like in texture), and cant wait to go back to try the rest of the menu. A slice of our beloved (home) East Coast on the East Side. We are so happy this place exists.

A total gem in downtown Sierra Madre!

Bess is exactly what the neighborhood needed — a modern, inviting wine bar and Italian dinette that feels both chic and effortlessly welcoming. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the buzz of good energy — great music, warm lighting, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours.

The wine selection is fantastic — thoughtfully curated and perfect for both casual sippers and true wine lovers. I loved being able to try different glasses instead of committing to a full bottle. The food? Simply delicious. The menu is a fresh, flavorful take on Italian-American classics — think perfectly cooked pasta, beautiful small plates, and a few fun twists that make everything feel special.

The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do, which makes the whole experience even better. Whether you’re popping in for a glass of wine after work or settling in for dinner with friends, Bess hits the mark every time.

It’s informal yet refined, energetic yet cozy — truly a perfect spot for Sierra Madre. So happy to have Bess in the neighborhood! ✨

We were psyched to see this wine bar open in the old Corfu spot and our excitement was not in vain one drop.

The owner Jeff was super hospitable and he took time to have a good convo with us about his grandma Bess and other interesting stuff.

We had the entry-level pinot noir (a good price for a 1/2 L) and it was excellent. We also had the meat and cheese board and it was high quality and tasty. This really reminded us of having pichets of red wine and charcuterie boards when we used to live in Paris. Bess really nailed it.

The ambience and decor were appealing. Stylish without being either twee or kitsch. Hard to thread that needle and they pulled it off.

Overall great vibes. Bess is a wonderful addition to the downtown Sierra Madre food and drinks scene. We look forward to our next visit! Bess in a photo on a shelf above the bar looks down at her grandson’s place and she has reason to be proud to be its namesake.

Really great food and warm environment! I went with a group of friends and we ordered five bigger dishes to share. After that, we even reordered another smaller round of food with a few of our favorites because the chicken parm was so good! It is a great new spot in Sierra Madre.

My partner and I went to dinner here and it was fantastic. Cute ambience, great size, in a fun downtown area, friendly servers, music was nice but low enough volume that we could hear each other. The food was excellent. I have celiac (so I’m gluten-free), and I had so many options here and each one was exceptionally delicious. The menu is small but they really nailed it.

I went here for the first time this past weekend. I’m so excited to have a cool vibey spot in town with good food and beverages that aren’t beer! The staff was amazing and made us feel right at home. This is just what Sierra Madre needed.

I held a company dinner event here. Coordinating with the Bess management team was so easy despite having people with a variety of dietary restrictions. My team raved about the food, wine and especially the fantastic service. Additionally, the restaurant was on the cutest street, and the restaurant atmosphere was lovely. We’ll definitely be back!

Went here for my first time on a Friday night. Everyone was so nice. Service was great. My husband and I shared the focaccia bread, Caesar salad, buccatini w/meatballs and lasagna. We also had dessert. No leftovers whatsoever. 10/10 recommend.

We lived in pasadena , and tonight we decided to aventure to q new wonderful Italian restaurant- wowed , we loved everything their focaccia bread – the bucatini pasta with an authentic Italian chunky sauce yummy – their meatballs are tender and savory and to finished up we had their top notch tiramisu with real cognac and ever so slightly sprinkle with cinnamon. Highly recommended this will definitely become a favorite neighbor Italian restaurant . The manager and staff are just as friendly and welcoming.
