We visited Baba Yaga twice while we were visiting Seattle in June of 2025, and both times we had great experiences! The first was when we were on our way to a concert at the WAMU. We stopped by for cocktails and tacos on our way, and everything was great! My boyfriend is celiac and had no trouble ordering tacos off their menu, and their cocktails were absolutely top notch!

Later the next evening, on our way home from dinner, we decided that we wanted to have a shot. We stopped by and sat at the bar, and the bar tender was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We weren’t familiar with a lot of the tequila options and they ended up recommending a nice, smoky mezcal that was exactly what we were looking for.

I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area! They host live music downstairs (they also had flash tattoos available the first night we went! We would have gotten one but we had an event to get to) and when we walked by late the first night, the place was absolutely packed with a lineup out the door and great music coming from inside. It’s really a cool vibe! I even snapped some photos of their décor because it’s really unique and funky.

*Update, they cleared their payment, there was no refund on their end as stated below. Our bank reversed the incorrect charges. No follow up.

**To the owner who I cannot reply to via this Google review, our charges were under my husband Joseph Hennessy.

We were pumped to attend a small music event here with all of the amazing reviews but we scored the exact opposite experience unfortunately.
The decor setting is pretty cool, upstairs bathrooms were definitely cleaner than most bars, not a fan of the downstairs uni bathrooms which is basically a men’s bathroom taped over to welcome all but the welcome is walking straight in to men pissing in urinals with no privacy urinal wall which is the least that could be put in for those of us that have to make it to the one door stall and are unable to stand piss like our counterparts and for those that maybe don’t want to free peep show their jewels to just anyone.
The upstairs bartenders blew us off after we got in and refused eye contact so after 15 minutes of being avoided at all cost during a pretty slow start to the night there customer wise, we reluctantly went downstairs for the event empty handed and ordered drinks.
We purchased two double vodka/sodas and two beers and were billed $78, second round we just got one more vodka/soda and closed out, found out from the bank this morning that a second charge of $86 was charged for that one drink.
So for five drinks we paid $168. Obviously will handle this with the bank after it comes off pending status.
Wrap up, had high expectations from Google reviews but realistically was a total let down.
Would have loved to enjoy the food which was the plan, but that wasn’t in the cards for us and the upstairs bar staff decided we were not eating there last night.
Guess we just hit a sour night but the music absolutely was worth the hike downtown.

They have awesome tacos I tried the Pambazo Torta it was amazing the service was quick and fast the downside it can be loud inside the restaurant. This is now my go to for weekend brunch or lunch prices are really reasonable

Baba Yaga came highly recommended by a colleague who visited a few weeks before we did. Baba Yaga did not disappoint! My husband and I were there for about 2 hours as we had some time to kill before heading to a concert. The bartender/barista, Nico, was incredible! Not only was she fast and efficient, her drink recommendations were on par with my requests. I had the Princess of Pentacles (fruity and refreshing) and a Six of Wands (I highly recommend for all of you Espresso Martini folks). Both were excellent. As far as décor, I loved the wood throughout, live plants hanging from the ceiling, and the awesome light fixtures. We hope to visit again soon!

Great spot in Pioneer Square! I’ve been twice and the food and drinks have been top notch. They also have an amazing coffee machine and a bartender who also has extensive barista experience, so always delicious. And if you ever partied in Pioneer Square in the 00’s, you likely clubbed here at one point. Good times all around.

Dropped in to Baba Yaga in Pioneer Square one night to see Moon Panda and Night Heron. The music venue is in the basement. There’s an upstairs seating area with couches, a television, and a game of Jenga, which I made use of while waiting for the show to start.

I want you to know dear reader that it was my first time to play Jenga, at age 46, and while I assumed you laid down a wood plank, wait for your opponents to do the same until you have a tower, that is NOT how you play Jenga.

That was endearing to my date though, who laughed and acted like I was very cute for doing so.

I did enjoy a Maiz Macabre cocktail while I was waiting, and it was spectacular, and my bartenders were perfect-great service.

In the end, Moon Panda canceled, but the opener, Night Heron out of Portland, stole the show and entertained us all.

Baba Yaga will be on my list of places to return for a great spot to chill, see shows, and have a good cocktail or beer.

Delicious coffee and tacos – with a full bar, seated atop a rad performance space in Seattle’s unbreakable Pioneer Square! It’s so good, so cool. Want to impress visitors yearning for some serious Seattle, WC vibe? This is the place to be.
I know you taco afficianados are thinking, “how good could they be?” Answer: better than whatever you were gonna throw together at home at this price point, for real. Come and get it!
