I ordered my steak rare to medium rare. It was neither and rather chewy. When asked about the meal I told our server this and was going to let it go but my friend insisted that she send it back. She took the plate and returned with just the steak and not the rest of the meal—the shrimp and the vegetables. When I asked her about it the host returned with the rest of my dinner which I paid $29 for and he then asked me what was the problem (??). Unbelievably, she took the plate with the meat, shrimp, and vegetables and came back with just the meat. Thankfully the rice and enchilada arrived on a separate plate, otherwise I would have lost that too. Also, how could she not see that the steak knife she gave me had pointy cuts on the front and back of the knife, like it had melted and been reformed. I tried but it poked my fingers and eventually I had to request another knife. I’m not exaggerating here. There were not that many patrons in this very small restaurant (seats maybe 40/50—for a while we were the only customers int the restaurant) and although she was the only waitress she should have looked at what she was serving. Very disappointing and poor service. She needs retraining. Note: My friend told me the bathroom is nowhere near the restaurant so you have to walk a considerable distance into the hotel itself to get to it.
The drinks we ordered were good although expensive at $15 apiece. My daughter ordered sweet tea, no sweet tea. Then unsweetened tea, no unsweetened tea. I ordered hot tea which arrived with honey as there was no sugar available—no sweetener of any kind, regular or otherwise. What restaurant does not have sweetener on the table? I suppose they don’t want you to use salt or pepper either as there were no condiments of any kind on any table. The only tea bags she could find were green tea (no earl grey or black tea, which she said they had, and decaffeinated Lipton, all of which she put on a plate. She also arrived with lemon when I requested creamer. She came back with hazelnut creamer, which is usually served with coffee rather than tea. How could she not know this? We had to request napkins and water.
The meal was over $109. My friend insisted on providing the tip which she gave to her at the bar. Our server took her tip but never returned to pick up our payment for the meal. I eventually had to flag down the host so we could leave. All in all, this is a restaurant still learning how to operate its own business. Our waitress was mediocre at best—with a near complete lack of memory and comprehension issues. I would not recommend this restaurant until they learn how to serve their clientele better. At present this place is only good for drinkers at the small bar. They will have to step up to earn a satisfactory restaurant review. In good conscience I cannot recommend this fledgling restaurant.
There’s no way to identify the missing ingredients when asking for a refund via Grubhub and I do not want to stiff the restaurant by saying that there was a problem with the entirety of each item when it was only minor issues with each of them. This makes me even less enthused about the experience as a whole.
Great menu and even better drinks!
