My husband and I have been on a hunt for a local, dependable Indian spot, and I think we may have found our winner.

Insofar as the roti resembled the buttery, flaky layers of a white roti, this was a pleasant order. The roti here are made with whole wheat, which made for a grittier texture that felt…healthy, for all the good and bad of that word. But they were sufficiently buttery, which always helps things. And minor quibbles aside, this was still a fantastic vessel to scoop out every last smear of the tikka masala sauce.

Clearly, we liked the chicken tikka masala. With a fragrant, velvety sauce and large chunks of tender chicken, after a few bites of this dish, I found myself announcing to the table, “I feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t like Indian food.”

The chana masala – our other entree – was a little more muted and tomato-forward, but still fantastic. It feels strange to leave praise for rice, but judging from the sheen at the bottom of our rice dish, I suspect they melted and mixed some butter to it (which, again, no complaints here).

Service was chill on a Sunday afternoon. Beyond taking our order and dropping off our food, we weren’t bothered during our meal (which is the just-right level of attention I generally want from a place). The space is a little run-down but homey, and there’s only street parking, but I’ve never had trouble finding spots here.

I ordered 22 naans (10 plain, 12 garlic) from Taste of India and this was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with any restaurant. The naan quality was terrible—some were raw, others were burnt, and all of them were completely overpriced. We paid $89 for 22 naans, so the very least we expected was properly cooked bread. Instead, what we received was unacceptable, especially with guests waiting.

When I called the restaurant to address the issue, things somehow got worse. I spoke to two different people, both of whom were loud, rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Instead of acknowledging the problem or apologizing, they argued for several minutes. Eventually, one of them offered 10 naans for free, but only if I came to pick them up, even though the original order was delivered. Then he said he would never deliver to my address again.

There was zero accountability, zero apology, and absolutely no sense of customer service. The way they spoke was shocking and completely disrespectful.

Oh, and the delivery took long!

This was my first and definitely last time ordering from here.
Terrible naan, terrible customer service, terrible management.
Do yourself a favor and don’t go here.

We’ve ordered from Taste of India many times since moving to Teaneck. Tonight we decided to ask for a little more spice, and they delivered! It dawned on me, we have never had a bad meal from them. Love this place!

Some of the best Indian food we’ve ever had. Dining area could use a makeover and better lighting, but what TOI lacks in ambiance, it more than makes up for it with how good the food is. Highly recommend stopping in.

For anyone who is not from India, this is definitely not the “Taste” of India..! I just can’t understand how this place has 4+ Ratings. Have ordered delivery a few times from here and the food has always been at varying levels of disappointment.

Chicken and Kebab from the Assorted Sampler was dry and had no flavor whatsoever. Thankfully the Vegetarian options tasted better. Biryani was nothing more than rice mixed with masala with no flavor of Chicken (precooked meat??)

Vegetarian curries are usually pretty good but the ones with meat are touch and go. Will no longer order from here – tired of being disappointed everytime

This is hands down the weirdest 73. Vegetable Korma I have ever had and I love it. It has the widest range of vegetables in a korma I have ever seen, and I think there’s cherries in here too? I have no idea, but it’s very, very good. The 87. Garlic Naan is also huge. The 111. Masala Chai Tea is also very delicious. It’s warm, cozy, and everything a chai should be. Everything is a decent portion size and packaged well.
