Service was a bit slower than we would have liked. We had a 5:45 reservation on a Saturday. The main critique for me was that our plates and table were not cleared or cleaned before getting our next course. Would have appreciated new silverware between appetizer and entree as well as a quick table wipe…
Personally, I have high expectations for a cheese/charcuterie board at a wine bar. This one was poorly executed in many ways. You don’t get to pick the cheeses or meats as they are selected by the chef. We were not told what the cheeses were at any point, but I’d guess it was a simple cheddar and provolone? Pretty basic cheese selections, so think they could improve by picking more unique cheeses. We weren’t told what the meats were but I’d guess salami and prosciutto. No complaints there. The grapes on the board were very mushy and seemed old, they shouldn’t have been served. There was a small and odd array of various pickled vegetables. I think just cornichons would have been a better choice for the board. Both mustard and a peppadew jam were served with the board. The mustard was WAY too strong tasting of horseradish, and didn’t complement the board. The peppadew jam tasted exactly like salsa…Both were odd choices, and I feel a simple fig or apricot jam would have been much better. The crackers were good, but there were a ton of them, so not quite proportional. We paid $3 to add honeycomb which was a great choice that I’d definitely recommend!
My husband enjoyed his burger, but the fries were a bit overdone and very salty! I got the clams with linguine, which I’ve had many times at other restaurants. The clams and pasta themselves were good. However, the sauce wasn’t a traditional white wine sauce that usually comes with the dish. This sauce was thicker, very salty, and quite spicy – I think due to a large amount of garlic. Don’t get me wrong, I love salt and garlic, but they were both too overwhelming in this instance.
We enjoyed both the donuts and chocolate cake for dessert. They were both large portions, so we took some home for later.
Overall, this spot is probably best for just wine and dessert. We would likely come back but order differently, and sadly skip the cheese board!
Keely, the event coordinator, was so wonderful to work with and made the planning process smooth and stress-free. Every request was handled with a smile, and you could tell the team genuinely cared about making the night special for my wife.
We had the best time and couldn’t have imagined a more perfect way to celebrate such a big milestone. Highly, highly recommend Foxcroft for any special event or dinner—you’ll be in excellent hands!
“Foxcroft doesn’t miss” – its dishes are creative, flavorful, and balanced. The menu rotates seasonally, but since we’ve been back so many times over the years, we’ve tried nearly every item and have rarely been disappointed. I’m both excited when new items come on the menu and sad to see old favorites go.
A little pricier than an average dinner ($20-30ish an entree not including appetizers). 1 entree + 2 appetizers is good for 2, plan to be stuffed if you get 2 pastas.
Must tries if available: sausage rigatoni, fried mushrooms, donuts, grilled octopus, fried (not baked) Brussels sprouts, lamb sliders
Good but not standout: generic sliders
My friend and I had a wonderful evening on the covered patio — a nice vibe with soft string lights + fans. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy this time of year in Charlotte.
Our server, Gabby was a standout— attentive, and full of personality. She made the night extra enjoyable and checked in at just the right moments.
We also met the new AGM, who was so excited to tell us about their new chef and the updates coming to the menu.
Foxcroft Wine Co. has four locations in Charlotte:
SouthPark, Dilworth, Waverly, and Birkdale Commons (Huntersville)
You can tell the team here is passionate about fresh, elevated cuisine. We can’t wait to come back and taste more—especially the upcoming chef specials!
Me and my husband both liked the same wine listed at $15 per glass, so the waiter suggested we take the bottle. I asked for the price, and he told us “about $45.” Sounded reasonable… until I checked Foxcroft’s own website later and found the exact same bottle for $29.
Suddenly, the fact that the label was removed the moment the bottle hit the table made a lot more sense. A clever magic trick — just not the kind you hope for when ordering wine.
I fully understand retail vs. dine-in price differences, but this one didn’t feel great.
The Cheese & Charcuterie board was good in quality but very small — two tiny cheese pieces on a board described much more generously on the menu. It left us a bit disappointed.
The wine itself was excellent, exactly how a good Burgundy should taste, but the pricing surprise took away from the experience.
Overall: Good atmosphere, friendly service, nice wine — but the pricing transparency (especially for bottles) really needs improvement. If you visit, double-check their online wine shop before committing to a bottle.
