Sweet Rice and Spice is a family-owned Lao and Thai restaurant located in the QT Marketplace in Garden Grove, California. We specialize in authentic Lao and Thai cuisine that you cannot find anywhere else outside of certain regions of Thailand and Laos. These are flavors you will never forget. First time trying this small Lao/Thai food vendor 8/10/25, let me say, amazing. I only ordered two dishes, the simple ones, those were the best sausages I ever had here in orange county. The other was just meatballs skewers that went well with the dipping sauce, of course accompanied by sticky rice. The flavor was immense and the texture, perfect to chew.
Kenny was very friendly and professional, just a great attitude and friendly service. I will now go here for my Lao food.
This place is in a food/smoothie court that is hidden if you don’t walk into it.
I highly recommend coming to sweet rice and spice, you won’t regret the quality that’s put into the food, it’s authentic, I grew up eating this and this shop is by far the real deal.
Pricing is adequate for certain dishes, yet worth the trip to dine in on the existing tables cafeteria style.

Sweet Rice and Spice was the little shop that comes with big flavor! After Vientiane changed hands, it just was never the same again. We craved good Lao food and finding it became a treasure hunt. Well, the search is over. This place is packed with flavor in every dish we’ve had from the laarb to the lao sausages to the khao piek. If you’re close by, this place is a must. You can thank me later for the explosion in your mouth.

Super casual mini-mall kind of environment. Fresh, fast and hot…or cold depending on what you order. Pad Thai was excellent. Pad See Ew had lots of chicken. Mang sticky rice was amazing.

This place was almost a hit for me.
I got the beef pad see ew. The noodles were only slightly overcooked, the beef wasn’t too tough, the veg was fresh and crunchy and delicious. However, when I opened up my takeout container, I noticed a hefty dusting of ground black pepper on top of everything. I love black pepper, but only fresh ground out of a pepper mill. The pre-ground stuff to me has a very funky taste to me, I don’t know why. And I tasted that dusty stuff throughout my entire meal. The dish would have been delicious without it, it was so disappointing. It’s not necessary at all! Bangkok Kitchen in Santa Ana will continue to be my go-to for when I’m craving pad see ew.

We stop by here every time we’re in Orange County! The Lao sausage and the pork jerky are really delicious. Kenny helped us both times and we’ll keep coming back for more.
