Big Papa’s Smokehouse is hands-down my favorite breakfast spot. I usually stop by around 6:30 in the morning when it’s quiet, and I’m always there for the brisket tacos—they’re huge, delicious, and absolutely worth it. On days when I know I won’t get lunch, these tacos keep me full and happy until at least five o’clock. Great food, great flavor—highly recommend!

I have traveled to and through Baytown quite a bit for work, and I didn’t even realize this place existed until it was recommended to me.
The interior has plenty of seating, and plenty of room for a line, and with bbq this good there is often a line. That being said, I was incredibly impressed with how quickly the food came out. Also, we had a large group, and the cashier took down our orders with pen and pencil and there wasn’t one mistake when the food came out. The staff was pleasant, helpful, and attentive.
The bbq is delicious. I was going to get a pick-2 plate with brisket and sausage, but then I saw the Pachon Baked potato that already had brisket and sausage on it, and I would definitely recommend it.
Some tips:
Get a 3 Meat Plate to try a variety, or try one of their baked potatoes. All of their sides are good, but try their “crazy beans.” There is extra bbq sauce on the table, and I liked the extra kick the “spicy” bottle provided. Lastly, ask for a to-go box, because odds are, with these portions, you’re going to need it
Cheers!!

My husband and I were able to actually hear the back story on how this place started which is always awesome to hear. The brisket is amazing! The only 2 things I can say that can be improved is to pull the boudain out a little earlier because it was a tad bit dry and the potatoe salad could use more seasoning. Overall I rated it 5 stars because it was delicious and worth every penny we paid for what we ate. It also was enough to make 2 meals. We will definitely be back!

Stopped in at 0645 (they open at 0500) in the
morning to get some of their “BIG Tex breakfast tacos” for a coworkers birthday. The tacos were HUGE! If you want a big breakfast item that is fresh, delicious and satisfying, then get the Big Tex tacos. I highly recommend this place! Deee-licious!

First time here.. Let’s start with the location, it’s great if you work in Exxon plant. I love the old building, it brings character. They don’t have outdoor seating but if you don’t mind a slight smoky restaurant, they have enough seating and it’s clean. The service is good, not your usual happy welcoming “mom and pops” place vibe, but they are nice. Now the food….. I ordered the brisket potato fully loaded, it comes with 2 bbq sauces. I do like that they carve out the potato and mix it with butter and sour cream and then stuff it again, and layer it with a blended cheese, brisket, chives and jalapeños. Now the BRISKET….. ok, in my opinion I prefer more Bark on briskets. But I do think that the flavor is great! I think this is a great spot for a quick lunch. Definitely a must try in Baytown!!

My boyfriend said the best thing in his plate of chicken and sausage was the pickles . My brisket was tender but lacked seasoning . Same story for the ribs . Beans straight out the can with nothing extra . Corn was mixed with “ something “ not a huge fan . Don’t be fooled by the smell when you walk in . I was definitely thinking I was getting some good food today . Oh…. Whoever made the barbecue sauce should be in jail for the weekend . Watered down ketchup .

Old building, not flashy, not decorated at all. The name is hard to see on the building entrance. BREAKFAST Brisket,Potatoe, Bacon, and Egg Taco is EXCELLENT! Well worth the 45 min drive from Houston!

Saw a post on fb about this place. What was posted looked delicious! So I took the chance and came to try this amazing looking food. Ordered the chopped brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans and side of macaroni and cheese.
I am going to say this… The brisket was super delicious! Great smoked flavor and aroma! The bun was toasted and stayed together till the last bite! They didnt add any bbq sauce to hide any flaw in the brisket which was good. Oh and their sauce! The sauce was thin and light tasting. It complimented the brisket very well with a good hint of the apple cider vinegar and slight sweetness to complement that! Mac and cheese was very creamy, a little on the thicker side but it was good. And beans were sweet. I would definitely come back here again and very affordable for brisket along with the large portions given! If you wanna full belly and food with flavor and up to par, come to this hole in the wall. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
When I came in there wasn’t anyone here it was about 11:30 but slowly picked up thru the next 30 min of eating. No loud music so you can have a conversation with whom ever you come with.

Probably the best dry rub ribs I’ve had, and brisket was super moist and tender! Highly recommend this place!! Great prices, great food, very clean, friendly staff. Can’t wait to try one of their stuffed baked potatoes next. Hidden gem in Baytown!
