We had lunch there on Christmas Day and enjoyed the specially curated menu prepared for the occasion.
The festive decorations at the Royal Mansour were incredible – complete with a visit from Santa…
We were treated like royalty from the minute we stepped into the hotel. The staff were extremely polite and accommodating. Our request to change something on the menu was managed quickly and efficiently.
This is a true palace – the absolute highlight of our trip! Not to be missed.
The tasting menu at Sesamo by the 3-Michelin-starred Chef Massimiliano Alajmo is an absolute triumph of Italian fine dining. Alajmo’s signature lightness and precision shine through every dish. It’s a culinary journey characterized by flawless execution and exquisite flavors.
The setting, already one of Marrakech’s most magnificent, was elevated to pure magic by the stunning Christmas display. The Royal Mansour’s festive decorations—opulent, elegant, and perfectly integrated—turned the dining experience into a beautiful, immersive winter fantasy
A special thank you to Isamel, who was extremely professional, attentive, and kind throughout the evening. His service made our experience even more enjoyable and special.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Marrakech. Thank you for this unforgettable moment!
But the food was average
Dining at Sesamo was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, the ambiance wrapped me in quiet luxury — opulent interiors, candlelit tables, and a refined calm that instantly set the tone for what would become a world-class culinary journey.
I selected the Mamma Rita tasting menu, and every single course was a masterpiece — both in presentation and flavor.
• The beef carpaccio was delicate and perfectly balanced with wild arugula and balsamic reduction.
• The eggplant parmigiana was soul-warming, rich, and comforting — exactly what you’d expect from a recipe passed down through generations.
• The spaghetti aglio e olio was deceptively simple yet bold, served with a shot of Virgin Bloody Mary that added a fun modern twist.
• The raviolone alla bolognese was a standout: a single large, silky raviolo filled with slow-cooked meat — indulgent and full of depth.
• The pea risotto was vibrant, creamy, and fresh, topped with shavings of aged Parmesan.
• The chicken Milanese arrived crisp and golden, served with a light mustard foam and fresh greens — the perfect harmony of texture and tang.
• A sparkling lemon sorbet cleansed the palate beautifully before dessert.
• Finally, the Atlas walnut tiramisu was elegant, airy, and the perfect closing note — a nod to both Italian tradition and Moroccan terroir.
The service was graceful and attentive without being overbearing. Every glass was refilled without asking, and the pacing of the meal was flawless.
Paired with a bottle of 2019 Castello di Ama San Lorenzo, the evening turned into something truly memorable — a celebration of Italy in the heart of Marrakech. Even the olive oil (Centonze D.O.P.) stood out, as did the petits fours and welcome aperitifs.
This was more than a dinner — it was a sensory experience where Italian heart meets Moroccan soul in the most elevated way. Bravo to the entire team at Sesamo. This is a must-visit for any culinary lover visiting Marrakech.
