The Pan con Mechada from here is an interesting sandwich – it works kind of like a grilled cheese but with shredded beef inside
The bread is a bolillo roll, which I haven’t had before. It kind of reminds me of the bread used for a Cubano, in that it’s soft on the inside and grilled on the outside. I think the outer toasting really works well here to give it a firmness when biting into.
The cheese is melted really well. You first notice this when pulling the sandwiches apart – there’s a great cheese pull between the two halves. The swiss cheese is plentiful and is what really makes this sandwich
I didn’t taste any caramelized onions – maybe they were present – but it was in a very limited quantity.
Lastly, the main ingredient – the beef. This was just fine. It felt a little cold, which was odd because the rest of the sandwich remained warm. It didn’t feel overcooked, but wasn’t juicy either. I also didn’t feel like I was getting the full flavors from the carne mechada – there wasn’t much onion, garlic, or additional flavors other than just the main beef taste
It’s not too expensive for a sandwich, but the portion is surprisingly small.
Overall, I think it’s fine sandwich, but would certainly recommend this consuming this right after it’s made to improve the experience. 7.25/10

I had the Ropa Vieja and it was honestly so good. I wasn’t expecting much, but it completely surprised me. The flavor, the texture, everything was on point. What really impressed me is that they’re working out of a small space using only electric appliances, slow cookers, and induction burners. No gas at all, and somehow they make it all work perfectly.
The girl behind the counter, I think her name was Steph, was really nice. We had a great talk about food and restaurants, and it just made the experience even better.
I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Seattle and I’m telling all my friends who visit the city to check this place out. Easily a five star spot.

The food was SO GOOD!! We got a sandwich and curry. The sandwich was moist and full of flavor and had a really nice contrast of toasted outside and wetter bread from the filling. Definitely something to eat immediately and not take home. The curry was also really good and I thought the fish in it was perfectly cooked. The owners were also super nice and considerate.
Highly recommend!

Ordered the Cuban sandwich and ropa vieja bowl, both were really good. I personally enjoyed the bowl a bit more, tons of flavor! It’s a hearty dish, you’ll have leftovers if you’re not that hungry. The service was top notch as well, super friendly. It is a small space (3-4 seats inside) so if you come with a large group take out or sitting outdoors is the best option.

Delicious and affordable food is in this quaint spot! We stopped by for lunch while shopping in the area. I wasn’t super hungry so I ordered the small Un Chin rice bowl with picadillo ground beef added. The food was delicious and the meat was seasoned well. My partner ordered the Cuban sandwich and loved it.
The agua fresca flavors change based on what’s available and they had apple on our visit. I enjoyed the drink and it was refreshing. We will definitely be back. The staff was very friendly and spoke with us while we ate. It definitely feels like a community-oriented restaurant. There isn’t much seating inside, but they have several tables outside when the weather is nice. They also have bodega snacks to buy.

I love the quaint feeling of Bad Chancla. I ordered the ropa vieja bowl and it was so flavorful. I am pretty sensitive to spice so it was a tiny bit spicy but nothing I couldn’t handle. The portion size was great, I even had a bit of leftovers. I really like the “curtido” on top —in ecuador we serve that with almost everything and thought it may be a little homage to Jose’s native country. I’ll be back for sure. I need to try the encocado next time.

Had a nice date night dinner here last weekend and could not have loved it more. I got the veggie bowl and my husband got the cubano, both were on point. It’s always the “hole in the wall” places that serve the best food in my opinion and this place did not disappoint. Everything was seasoned well, the rice was perfect and the toppings plentiful. Lucky for us we were the only customers (they only have 4 seats) and were able to talk to the Chef which was an added bonus. I’m not going to lie…I don’t like loud music when I’m eating out at a restaurant but quickly forgot about it while I consumed my bowl. I can’t wait to return for more!

I stopped by during their one-year anniversary celebration and finally got to try the place after hearing good things. They were giving away free food that day, and everything I tried was packed with flavor. Stephanie, one of the owners, was incredibly kind and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

Delicious food. Eaten here multiple times. This evening I got the rice bowl with the vegan picadillo and the flavors were on point but the potatoes were not cooked! So disappointed. Had to pick them out. If they can get their potatoes cooked all the way, easily 5 stars
