This restaurant is a small 9 table dining area with some tasty options and good costumer service. It was busy when we went that a few ppl had to wait for a table. I recommend the tan tan ramen and the sashimi platter. Street parking available. It is free after 6pm.

Comfort home meals at a reasonable price never seen anywhere in a long time. Looks like prices have not gone up much in a few years. Food is truly taste like a home meal. Enough variety between rice bowls, ramen, sashimi, maki, salads, and a few other item I can’t remember from the menu and a few desserts. Only one server. But, very fast and friendly service. A gem . Reservations are recomened as walking for tables fill out fast. Specially during UH games. Or, come in earlier for sitting. Looks like only street parking.

Pork cutlet curry – A little below my standards for taste, quantity, crispiness, and tenderness. I would’ve liked the curry to have more vegetables, taste, and complexity.
Veggie tempura – Lacking in crispiness and a bit undercooked.
Gyoza – Not bad.
Overrall, I felt like the food was just ok.

Three co-workers and I went to Hana No Sato on the Makai side of King Street, a little past University Avenue. It’s a small space and their food is highly regarded.
We each had the Hana no Sato Gozen, which is their take on a teishoku meal … You choose one main dish from the bento section and your meal includes miso soup, a green salad, a platter of four side dishes (mac salad, two gyoza, ½ soft boiled egg, tsukemono, chawam-mushi, two shrimp tempura and two pieces of mochi for dessert. It’s a LOT of food and a “steal” at $17.50.
Three of us ordered the ginger pork while our fourth opted for chicken karaage. The main dish costs $13 with just rice and miso soup so for $4.50 more you get so much more.
The food is well prepared and seasoned appropriately … I really enjoyed my meal and was so stuffed that I passed on dinner.
I believe that the Gozen meal is limited in quantity so early diners are rewarded. Highly recommended!

A kind of hole in the wall place for great Japanese food. Clean restaurant, tasty food. I’ve been here multiple times and have orders different dishes on every visit. Always super satisfied. Their tonkatsu ramen is my favorite. This is a great place that filled in the void when Minato restaurant closed. Highly recommended. I’ve seen lines here when I’ve drove by in the past, but luckily whenever I went, there was a seat available. They are busy on take out too. My advice is to order take out well in advance. AAAAA++++

Charming mom-and-pop shop. On-street parking, and parking in back. Sweet customer service. Inari sushi per piece also! Some of the softest, best unagi you’ll find, and the prices are very reasonable. Goya chanpuru is superb.

Sit back, relax, don’t be in a hurry, and enjoy the hussle and bustle of this little joint. Bring a few friends. There was a constant stream of takeout if that’s any hint. It might not be up there with the tourist oriented restaurants, but this hole in the wall is well worth the visit. I’m sorry I didn’t take any pictures, but I was too busy eating!!
