LaVenture is back with a new chef and amazing food! We had the shrimp appetizer, the wood oven cheese bread, the lobster ravioli and the meatballs. Some of the items are the same, some the same with a twist, and some completely new. The shrimp appetizer is pretty much the same with a different breading. Still amazing. The ravioli, though! Normally, when you order lobster ravioli, you get a hint of lobster inside some cheese, surrounded by too-thick pasta. This was AMAZING! This was nothing but lobster inside house-made ravioli, served with lemon butter and roasted summer squash. It’s a must-have.

Ordered the Italian sausage/broccolini wood fired pizza and local tomato salad. The pizza was good, but would have been perfect with a house-made, hot honey drizzle. It needed a bit of a punchy spice addition. The tomato salad was perfectly balanced with fresh dill, torn mint, olive oil, sea salt and breadcrumb. The Chihuahuan sunset (prickly pear, tequila, lime) was tart and refreshing. Not overly sweet for a variation on the margarita.

LaVenture in Marfa completely blew me away. The vibe is beautiful, the service was thoughtful, and the food—especially the pasta (and the pizza!!)—is a must.

It tasted like it came straight out of an Italian kitchen. So fresh, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care. You can tell they’re doing things right back there. If you’re in Marfa, do not skip stopping or staying at LaVenture / hotel Saint George—it’s worth the trip alone.

This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant in awhile. We got there right when they opened and.were seated rigjt away. Thr restaurant only had a couple of tables at this time. The waitress came to take our order and while I ordered my drink, my family was still looking at the menu. The waitress asked so you need more time, then asked “are you going to get food?” Weird question to ask when they literally just got there. It took about 15-20 minutes for my drink. She finally comes with my drink and then to take our order. My family ordered their drinks and when we went to order our food, the first thing we order shes like oh we are out of that. Considering we have been waiting about 30 minutes to order at this time, I feel like we should’ve been told this already. Well, 3 of us were ordering the same thing so we had to quickly figure out what else to order. So the server leaves, and we wait for the rest of the drinks which we finally get 35ish minutes later. This whole time the waitress never checked on us. We see her again when she brings the food. And then shes gone. Now the table behind us who came in after us, she was at their table a lot. She was rubbing the child’s head so I assume she knew them, but the amount of service they got compared to us was ridiculous. In total, we were at this restaurant for 2 hrs. I can not tell you the last time I’ve been at a restaurant for 2 hrs. Way to long! Honestly will never eat here again. Oh, and my parents $40 steak wasn’t even good. The was grey and mid, not worth $40. The pizza was the only good thing about this entire experience.

We ended up having both lunch and dinner at LaVenture during our visit. The chicken schnitzel and kale salad are a must-try, and the pepperoni pizza was pretty solid too. Great cocktails as well!

We went to eat dinner here and it was great. The dumplings were delicious and service was great. While not the cheapest option it was well worth the expense. I will say that the lobby when you walk in is dim to the point of too dark and it was a bit too quiet with spillover noise from the bar on the other side of the brick wall that doesn’t extend to the ceiling.

I have dined at the LaVenture restaurant the last couple of years but have visited more often the last few months. The ambiance is one that invites an air of creativity mixed with mystical etherealness. It’s been an artistic haven for me to escape from the ruggedness of West Texas especially when in need of an inspiring environment for my writing.

My favorite thing to do has been to go to the back bar and order some appetizers and cocktails while I write and chat with Sarah, the talented bartender. I appreciate the detail she puts into making the drinks, while also offering alternative and creative libations for those of us who have a hard time making a decision. She knows the menu well and offers honest suggestions of food pairings with the drinks. I’ve also been waited on by Ryan and he’s great, and Moony is a wonderful host.

The cooks are phenomenal at what they do. My go-tos are the truffle fries with garlic aioli and the brick oven pepperoni pizza. The salads are fresh and colorful – I get the Greek salad. Their soups are seasonal and so far I’ve tried 2 of the soups, carrot with cream and tomato, and both were very delicious and flavorful.

My low rating is not of the restaurant but of an experience I had this past weekend with one of their waiters. I had a friend visiting from California and for months I had raved to her about LaVenture.

Our server was Doug and when he came to ask us for our drinks, he was immediately rude and sharp to us. We were taken aback and attempted to brush it off thinking he may have had a bad day, which if he did it still does not justify the despicable and disrespectful customer service that followed. He rudely told us that the kitchen closed in 30 minutes, so my friend and I quickly looked at the menu to pick something to be respectful of the time (I live 1.5 hrs away and we did our best to get there way before closing). However, when we turned to give our order, Doug cut us off by turning and walking away, which was odd since we assumed that he’d want to put the order in as quickly as possible due to the kitchen closing. The rest of the night became a series of uncomfortable, impolite, and unprofessional interactions by Doug. My friend and I spoke to him kindly and respectfully, even though that was not returned. My friend shared later that she felt so uncomfortable that she couldn’t finish her meal, and I too shared the same sentiment. Being the optimistic person that she is, she made the best of a horrible situation but to say I’m disappointed would be an understatement. Never have either of us been treated the way Doug treated us and the experience was so disheartening.

While I understand that one person does not represent the whole of a company and its employees, it definitely plays a substantial part. I have worked in the customer service industry before and empathize with the challenges one faces both with customers and their industry, which is why I initially empathized with Doug. I hope that management will address Doug and his unprofessionalism.

LaVenture is one of our favorite places. The food, atmosphere and service are wonderful. We highly recommend the lasagna, Bahn mi sliders, seared tuna, shrimp appetizer, New York Strip, and pretty much everything else on the menu. Enjoy!

LaVenture- I really enjoyed my dinner here at LaVenture, I ordered the Pizza and the price was 12 dollars and it was super tasty!! I was really impressed with the size of the Pizza, the flavors of the Sausage, Pepperoni, and Feta Cheese mixed very nice together. I also got the Spicy Margarita, the cost was 10 dollars which was not bad, because the taste was fantastic! I have no complaints, the actual entrance of the hotel was stunning, I love the feeling that the Hotel Saint George gave, super elegant, yet modern vibes, super cool & just relaxing! The waitress was very nice, loved her personality, she kept up with the water refills very well. I highly recommend this place for sure. Just for a helpful tip: If you are in a group, & want the checks to be separated tell the waitress or waiter ahead of time, that will help them out and will help you out. It does get super busy, so hopefully this tip helps out. I highly recommend this establishment! ☺️

Stopped in with the kids for drinks. We ordered two margaritas and 3 cokes, as we were just having drinks. Margaritas were fine but small. Total price was $41. Absurd for two small margaritas and 3 cokes
