Food was good as it should be and I did enjoy the new enchilada style option. Appears that prices have gone up a little. It is always good to go early and avoid the crowds IMO. Restaurant was clean and well-lit but the loud uninspiring 90’s acoustic guitar station playing on the house speakers wasn’t appreciated.

I went and got their free chips and queso on the starving student card. It was totally worth it, with their loaded cheese full of vegetables and spices, and fresh baked chips. Very good Barbacoa Mexican Grill, you can be proud of this really good appetizer that fed me really well.

Upon arriving, we got the impression that it was closed down due to there being almost no decorations except for stock photos and absolutely no menu. We waited for several minutes to be greeted by the employees with absolutely no line. This was our first time here, so we were unfamiliar with the process of ordering, and they weren’t much help with that. The food was mediocre at best and left us highly unsatisfied. While they made our food, the employees were touching their face/hair and then would touch our food again. Very unimpressed and honestly you should save your money and go somewhere else. They did have toothpicks though.

This is on of my favorite burrito places. The steak is AWESOME! you can also replace your beans with veggies which is great. I’ve never had a bad experience. They have free kids meals with entree purchases which means you can get out for two adults and two kids for $15. Great deal!

I go here like 3-4 times a month. When you get extra meat they commit. So it’s awesome. Another thing I love is the atmosphere. Spacious and comfortable and the music isn’t loud. Lemons and limes are always stocked fresh.

I ordered online for a staff meeting/lunch. It was a total of 7 orders. The online system is not great, as it times out and clears your cart. (I checked out as a guest, so maybe if I was logged in it would be different?) Anyway, if you’re ordering for many people or taking a while to gather all the orders, get orders in writing instead of verbally. You’ll probably have to enter them more than once.
When I arrived, the employee who acknowledged me quickly pawned me off to the employee who put together my order. She hardly spoke English, which is fine, but she did not go over the order with me. She simply said, “Forks and napkins are over there.” and motioned to the door.
By the time I got back to the office, I placed the food on the conference room table and finished up a few responsibilities, as the meeting started in just 5 minutes. Staff started coming in and soon realized that one of the orders (which was ordered and reflected on my email confirmation) was not included in the order.
Note: This location is not close to our office and it was a special treat picked by a staff member who loves Barbacoa.
So instead of taking meeting minutes, I wasted my time and I drove the 40 minutes round trip to get the additional meal. I tried calling before I left my office, as I saw that they use DoorDash and might be able to have them bring it, as they were at fault. No answer. I called for 25 minutes straight (before I left my office and the whole way over) and they didn’t answer until I was 3 minutes away. When I arrived, the forgotten meal was ready and a drink cup was given for the inconvenience, but no apology.
In short, horrible customer service and food wasn’t awesome. First and last time at Barbacoa. Better off going to Cafe Rio or Costa Vida.

Easily one of the best fresh mex burritos for quick fast food that is actually good for you.. well mostly, I love extra sour cream! The staff is pleasant and always fast and efficient. It’s amazing how much stuff they can pack into a tortilla!! Keep up the good work.

Okay. I had low/no expectations going into this place. I just found a coupon.
BUT we loved it!
I’m a bang for your buck kind of guy, and the prices were already good, but the biggest separator between Barbacoa Mexican and all the other competitors was the portion sizes.
Seriously, I got the barbacoa, and after the first giant scoop, I thought to myself “wow, they give more here than I’ve ever had at Cafe Rio.” …then I got ANOTHER giant scoop.
Same thing with any of the toppings for my salad. Best/biggest salad I’ve had in awhile.
Thanks, Barbacoa, for a great first experience. I’m not from Utah, and I can say with confidence that Cafe Rio is one of the most overrated (and overpriced) restaurants. Sorry, Utahns.

First and last time I will eat here. Not a fan. Lettuce tastes like the prepackaged ones you buy at the store. I could barely taste the sour cream. The tomato salsa was so mushy ir overwhelmed any other taste. Chipotle is way better.
