What a wild treat this was. I have traveled to many places, Michelin star restaurants in, Italy, Mexico City, famous places in Madrid, Barcelona, and yet beautiful place in Lubbock Texas gave me a personalized experience that matched such places. The entire team being polished and trained in hospitality, showed off their menu in such a great light. Chef Finn has traveled the world and carried beautiful moments from many places and translated it into his menu. So much care and so much passion goes into every turn and twist, every ingredient, showcasing, hand selected provisions from all over. I am beyond impressed. What a sensational experience. I can’t wait for more people to come and experience the love and passion that is all over this menu it is also so refreshing and so beautiful to hear. A man include his beautiful wife and attribute all this is a powerful partnership. I wish it was more common to see business owners so passionate about what they’re doing. Cheers to this team for going above and beyond.

Jewel of a restaurant in LBB! As someone that grew up in the Llano Estacado, it was a real treat to finally enjoy High Plains Cuisine done at a high level. Thank you to Chef Finn & crew for a memorable evening of great wine, ambiance, service & food. I highly recommend going early and enjoying a great happy hour!

In town for my sons golf tournament, thought I would give it a try and WOW! Some of the best food I’ve ever had. I will dream about that cauliflower pasta!

This was a meal that offered much laughter and apologizing to my family for picking this restaurant. The staff was a bit condescending for not knowing how to uncork a wine bottle. The exterior chairs are cheap plastic, cleaned with fragrant cleaning spray. The brioche and desert salad were good, my praise largely ends there. The main question of the night was “how do you mess up [fill in the blank]?” I ordered a dutch baby, a kind of pancake, I was brought not a dutch baby but some kind of egg soufflé. The ravioli was bland and tepid. The Pozole resembled what my grandfather eats at his assisted living facility. The lamb was good but the mash it was served with was once again tepid. I normally trust the James Beard and Bon Apetit restaurant recs, but will be seriously questioning their judgement moving forward. Maybe a heat lamp or simmer eye in the kitchen to keep dishes warm would have changed this experience.

We where in town visiting our son at Tech. My wife picked this restaurant as it was recommended to her by a friend. The service and ambiance were excellent. We ordered the Ravioli, Bread, Charcuterie and the Crab as appetizers. All the portions were very small but everything had very good flavor. For the mains we ordered the Ribeye steaks(2) and the Lamb. The Lamb was ok. The steaks were terrible. They were chewy, cold and had no flavor whatsoever. I’ve never seen my 18 yesterday old soon leave food on his plate. My daughter and I were sharing the other steak and we only ate several pieces. Not so sure how can they screw up 2 steaks in the same serving. Anyhow, ended up taking the family afterwards to Chic fil A for milkshakes and and sandwiches as we were still hungry after spending 600 dollars at the Nicolett. Don’t waste your time and money. You will be disappointed.

What an amazing experience! The service staff will guide you through a taste testing journey that will blow your mind! From the lavender brioche bread service to the buttermilk pie dessert and all that’s in-between you won’t be disappointed! For grains the anogolotti pasta dish is a must!

Update, April 2025:
The Nicolett remains one of my favorite restaurants in Lubbock, offering staples alongside unique, seasonal menu items. This time, I tried antelope (!) for the first time in my life, and it was tender and delicious. We saved the tiniest bit of room for a lavender yuzu buttermilk pie and I’m so glad we did!

Update, December 2023:
Still incredible. We had time for dessert at the end, and it was just as delicious as the other courses. Highly recommend the caramelized brioche (photos posted separately from review).

Original review, December 2022:
We stopped in here before a 7:30 show at Buddy Holly Hall. 5:15 was a perfect arrival time to make it to the show comfortably. Our server, David, made sure to keep our plans in mind. The Nicolett serves 3-course meals with various choices for each courses, with the option to skip one or more courses. We had all three courses, bread service beforehand, plus cocktails. The waitstaff took excellent care of us during our visit. David was awesome (as were the rest of the staff) and the food was delicious and high-quality. This place is defintiely in my top 3 (maybe 1 or 2?) or so favorite restaurants in Lubbock.

This is such a gorgeous restaurant! The food was AMAZING! You can really tell that each dish is specially and carefully made and the service here was great. The waiters/waitresses make sure to explain each dish and make sure that each guest is taken care of! HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone visiting Lubbock! Definitely such a wonderful place to go! I believe that during the week they host wine/food tastings and they change the menu often so when you go back you can always try something different!

Staff was wonderful the first time. The second time, the waitress treated us like an inconvenience. Plan to sit at the bar if we go back. We loved the chef’s tasting menu. The salad was particularly delicious. Pasta s fantastic.
