The food here is usually spot on, and what I collected today was, apart from a chicken tikka byriani that came with a cheese side dish, NOT the vegetable curry it should.
Glad to say when I ordered again they knocked off the price of one curry to compensate, and all was superb as always. Fair play to em. I even phoned to congratulate them on a job well done.

We’ve been loyal customers of The Raj in Hertford for 17 years, always enjoying great food and service. But after a year away, our recent visit was a shock.
We shared one main (£24) and a side (£6.95), plus four pints of Diet Coke. The bill came to £59.70—£27.80 just for the drinks, charged at £6.95 each. That’s more than £2.35 above Hertford’s average. Absolutely outrageous.
The thali promised a quarter chicken, but what arrived was minute—barely a mouthful.
We’ve heard it’s under new management, and sadly, it shows. We won’t be returning.

Absolutely the most horrendous service I have ever received. We ordered for take our and waited the hour the website said, then proceeded to wait another hour within the restaurant. Staff kept coming to ask what our order was, what we were doing there, what name, and clearly immediately threw the information away the moment they walked off. We had to track down staff members multiple times and finally were told they didn’t even have our order despite our charge and email confirmation. 0/10 service. Go anywhere else.
