I went for lunch buffet near the end of lunch. The price was very good for the quality. The staff made more of things for us even though we were the only customers. My partner thought it was sugary which I didn’t catch. The food was neither spicy or very heavily spiced. Good mix of vegetarian and meat options.

Just ordered chicken vindalo and chicken tikka masala. This is apparently vindalo. Where are the potatoes? And why does it taste like it’s cooked in Maggie sauce? Chicken tikka doesn’t taste like chicken tikka either. Everything is watered down. Chicken taste old.

Food was excellent; don’t ask me to pronounce exactly what it was that my companion and I had, but it was delicious!

I’m genuinely surprised by some of the negative feedback here, considering how positive my experience was when I had lunch here today. When I arrived, I didn’t realize it was close to closing, but our host warmly invited us in anyway. After mulling over the menu a little, I decided to get the buffet, especially considering the variety of vegetarian options. Once I got back to the table and had my first bite, I was very impressed by how savory the food was. I would have made a trip back for some more bread to go along with my mixed vegetables, but our server had already sat down a generous portion of it along with a couple spicy sauces. I used the spiciest one because I am the type that orders “Thai hot” at Thai restaurants. That said, everything was seasoned pretty well, which is a big must for my palette. I also ordered the mango juice when our server inquired if I’d like some, and I sure am glad he did because it was a spiritual experience. As far as the atmosphere of the dining room, I’d describe it as quaint and cozy – very relaxing. I will definitely be back!

This was probably one of the worst experiences at an Indian restaurant. Me and my friend went for the lunch buffet. When we arrived the place was completely empty. As far as cleanliness and ambiance goes it’s all fine and good; however, the food was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had at an Indian restaurant. The buffet looked like they just heated up leftovers from the day before. The curries were all watered down and everything was bland with no flavor at all.
The cleanliness and friendly staff was the only good quality of this restaurant. The food was absolutely not worth it at all. 100% would NOT recommend. There are many other Indian restaurants in the Richmond area that provide better food and service. I will not be returning.

I ate here for lunch last week and got the buffet. I have definitely seen more options in terms of what variety of dishes are offered at Indian buffets but I felt for the price, the options were more than reasonable. I am unsure why this place has gotten such harsh reviews because nothing about my experience was negative. The service was great and they basically have endless mango lasses which are incredible. The buffet food was hot and seasoned well—though I will admit, it was not spicy but I assumed this was because it was the buffet food.

The samosas were good and so was the naan bread. My curry was pepper hot like I asked for, however it didn’t taste fresh and lacked the spicy curry flavor I am accustomed to. Overall fair experience but can’t recommend any of the dishes we tried. Because we had a group on I was required to order a fourth meal to go. I had it a few days later. It wasn’t any better.

Just nothing good about the food, none of the savory spices and flavors that I love about Indian food. Very disappointing, ordered $100 worth of food and we hated it all…just poor food quality. I wished I checked Google reviews prior to ordering from uber eats where the reviews are inflated. Our lamb dishes hardly had lamb, just runny sauce that tasted nothing like what we expected. I chose to try this restaurant because the prices were fairly reasonable compared to others…would have been better if I just paid the extra money and ordered better quality food. The only thing good about our order of four dishes was the mango lassi…everything else went in the trash. Even the garlic naan was gross, dry, thin and flavorless. Really makes me miss all the delicious and reasonably priced Indian and Afghan good in northern va.

Farouk’s is another locally owned restaurant easily reached by walking from my home. The owner and his wife are very friendly and courteous. The food is particularly delicious, and they are always mindful to ask how hot we would like the spices to be, either mild, medium or hot. Usually we go there for dinner, and the food has always been very fresh. If you haven’t been there yet, I highly recommend trying it!

I saw a good review and went there. But it was really disappointing. The food was served almost cold. We ordered two types of lamb but couldn’t differentiate between them. They tasted the same. Being an Indian can tell it’s nothing like Indian cuisine at all. Never gonna visit again nor will suggest anyone else to go there.
