My mother treated me to breakfast about 10 days ago and I have to say that we really enjoyed our food. The dishes looked and tasted great. The coffee was really nice…it had cinnamon brewed into the coffee and that was a nice touch. I won’t discount the reviews of others, but our experience was very nice. I’ve included photos of the dishes we ordered to try out (plenty was taken home for later snacking). We will definitely be visiting El Torito again.

Update- tried again and they were open on Tuesday. Chips were stale, which meant the nachos were stale. Also the beans on the nachos weren’t really good. Had to ask for jalapeños for the nachos. Queso was not bad, but a little runny.

Fideo was really good as well as the corn tortillas served on the side. Some of the best corn tortillas I’ve had. Fry those up for your chips and salsa and you could charge whatever you want for them.

Will return, but not going to order nachos again.

Will have to try again. Monday 06-09 arrived at 2:40PM. Hours show closing at 3:00 PM. Doors locked and restaurant was pitch dark inside. Either they closed very early, cleaned up and left by 2:40 or they are closed on Monday. Sign in window says “Yes we are Open”, but the lighted sign was turned off.

Service was friendly, but I was disappointed with how our order was handled. I was charged $1.25 for an extra tortilla to fix a mix-up on a $2.50 taco, which wasn’t our mistake. We were also charged for to-go water cups without being told ahead of time. The food was just okay today, though it’s usually very good and fresh.
Clearer communication and more attention to detail would improve the experience.

Came for the Birria tacos and they did not disappoint! At first I saw it was only 2 tacos and thought it wouldn’t be enough, but then they give you this large bowl of au jus full with big chunks of beef! So much flavor! It was just enough food. We will definitely be back for these again.

I have not visited the El torito restaurant on San Antonio Street. But I was a regular customer at the El torito on FM 725 until this morning when I was treated so rudely by not only the server but the manager as well.I ordered a menudo and coffee to go. The coffee was straight up trash no flavor nothing but a cup of hot water when I asked the young lady if she would exchange it for a Coke. I was told that since I had taken a sip of it they would not refund my money nor exchange it when I asked to speak to the manager he would not come to talk to me instead he had instructed the young lady to slam the window in my face and lock it. When I came home the menudo wasn’t completely bad but it was a lot of broth and bones and I found a piece of broken china in the bottom of the container. I have called several times leaving messages for the manager to reach out to me. The fact that he would not speak to me in person not returned any of my phone calls speaks volumes about his character and business practices and customer service. I’m writing this post as a warning to others to avoid this place and spend your money elsewhere .
Also hoping the owner of the company has a professional nature and would kindly reach out to me and investigate this matter. As I am now determined to follow through with other avenues. This was in fact discrimination.

I can’t believe I waited so long to try out this neighborhood eatery. We had the migas tacos, both corn and flour. They were both delicious! The tortillas are hand-made, both corn and flour . The salsas in the bottle , both red and green were also tasty. The red had a bit of a kick which I like.

The food is really good This is some pretty good quality Mexican food If you looking for some spicy sauces they have the spice here….and this food come out piping hot with a great flavor..I come here often which I’ve learned they charge you for tortillas that suppose to be with the meal, and cash adjustments so ask for receipt or you’ll get added adjustments and act like they don’t speak English. There were times while I was sitting in and I was like one of the only customers in the afternoon laughing once I get n watching me felt weird… This place just disappointed me tremendously I got treated poorly although I was coming often there was instances where when I called in and I said my name they hung up on me even my friend that speak fluent Spanish tried to call my order in when she said SHEA SHE POLITELY HUNG up ALL THIS BECAUSE IM BLACK UNFORTUNATELY FOR THEM everyone came from black baby so the hate be to real for me to spend my money here any longer food good but the hate not
