We dined in on the Saturday before Father’s Day to kick off celebrating my husband. We had heard mention of this restaurant online and figured since we were going to the art museum after brunch, this would the perfect location.
We arrived at opening. Our party along with two other parties were seated right away. Our waitress was nice and her name escapes me at the moment. For my drink I ordered a coffee and asked for Splenda or any sugar substitute and was told they didn’t have any. I was extremely disappointed in that since I’m a diabetic.
Our food came out and my husband was not pleased with his chicken and waffles. He said the chicken was plain and had no seasoning whatsoever. The waffles were just okay. They came out on a tiny plate and he had to ask for an addicted so he could manage his food without it falling onto the table.
My food was okay. The crab cakes were delicious. My eggs were over cooked. I asked for sunny side up and they came out fried all the way through where there was no runny yolk. You can even tell the cook flipped the egg and fried both sides. The potatoes were cold, but I still ate some of them.
My daughters enjoyed their French toast meals with no complaints.
One thing I was confused about was the plastic silverware. I would have expected a place that had a nice decor and is a little pricey to utilize real silverware. It cheapens the experience to me. I’d expect plastic silverware for take out, not dining in experience.
At the time we dined, there was no live music which I appreciated. My family and I were able to enjoy each others company and conversation.
Overall I would be willing to try them at least one more time, but my husband doesn’t want to so I’m not sure if we’ll be back. The waitress did ask my husband was there a reason why he didn’t finish his food and he gave her his honest opinion. Not sure if that went anywhere or not, but he did let her know his opinion on the meal.

I really love Sunset Kitchen. I love the vibe and the music is always great. I normally don’t go places by myself, but this is one spot where I feel completely comfortable walking in alone and sitting at the bar. That says a lot. The weekend brunches are my fav!
The cocktails are amazing especially the margarita flights. I got the chicken and waffles which was really good!
They also do a Christmas bar in the winter that’s decorated very nicely. The whole place feels festive and again, the music is on point. It’s always busy, which speaks for itself, but the service has consistently been good.

The food was really good. We came for brunch and had the shrimp and grit, catfish and grits, seafood eggrolls. The fish was crispy and perfectly seasoned. The grits and cajun gravey was so good. The seafood eggrolls were good but I would have like more peppers. Good music, good vibes, and nice decor. Staff was friendly.

First of all, let me start by saying the service was great. The atmosphere is just as nice. The rest is downhill. I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta, and all the vegetables were missing. When I asked if I could have them, they sent me out a small portion of chopped vegetables that wasn’t even enough to add to a quarter of the meal. The flavor was not what I was looking for. It’s not spicy at all. We ordered a burger and fries, and the fries were undercooked! Very disappointed

Tanisha, our server, was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. We had a large party and she was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. She is truly the reason for this high rating.
Unfortunately, the food itself fell short. The shrimp and grits completely lacked flavor—both people who ordered them said it was the blandest version they’ve ever had. The scrambled eggs were clearly premade and overheated, which left them very overcooked. Even after requesting them to be remade, one order was still missing cheese, and the kitchen simply threw cold cheese on top before sending it back out.
The restaurant could definitely improve the quality and preparation of its food. However, thanks to Tanisha’s exceptional service, our overall experience was still enjoyable. She made sure we were taken care of every step of the way, and for that we are very grateful.

This place is not it. Hair in food, Samantha at the bar is rude, fruit flies everywhere. They are in a unique location but the service was very slow during our visit. Upstairs, someone was having a party, so I’m guessing that’s why it was slow. Parking can be tough to figure out, and it was difficult to find the entrance on time. A sign pointing to the door would be very helpful.
I ordered an Old Fashioned, which was decent, but when I tried to order another, the waitress was extremely busy, so I went to the bar myself. It was the worst Old Fashioned I’ve ever had—I legit don’t know what I was drinking. Despite these issues, I especially loved the Turkey Burger. If you’re looking for a dining experience, Sunset Kitchen has potential but be aware of these points.

Welp, I was disappointed. Food and service was terrible. French toast was a thick piece of bread with a little color on it, NO flavor. Bacon seemed very close to precooked bacon in the package that you can microwave. If you want service, you won’t find it here. Having to yell across the room for someone because they kept walking past us was ridiculous. We were in the middle of the restaurant with the only path for staff, so yes they saw us, but…nothing!

Friends & I visited for Sunday Brunch. I will say the food is good. Though, the service wasn’t good. The waitress had no simple customer service skills. We arrived at 1pm only for them to tell us they ran out of a food item. They had been open for 2 hours. I understand it gets busy but maybe try and plan better for the biggest day of the week for brunch. I got shrimp & grits. On their website is says $17 which seems reasonable but on the menu it is $24. And to make matters worse the food came out cold. And they served us with plastic silverware. My friend got a burger and was unsuccessful cutting it in half. We ordered a bottle service but the bottle did not come out until after we were finishing up our food. We expressed our concerns about the late bottle arrival & running out of food (which isn’t her fault) but she just came up with excuses. She never apologized for the inconvenience not once. As far as the atmosphere, it was nice inside! There is a live DJ which was very loud considering the small space. Unfortunately, I will not be back to patronize. A lot of establishments struggle with the same issues in this city. Poor Customer service.
