This was a fun place to chill for a bit. Kate & Kee were good to talk to. We got there around shift change so we saw both of them but I think there’s usually only one person behind the bar. I would love to come back one day. The shuffleboard was my bf’s favorite part. It kept him entertained.

Kava, a plant lacking seeds or a means to self-propagate, is believed to have first originated in Northern Vanuatu thousands of years ago. Those origins add to kava’s spiritual significance and recognition as a ‘plant of the gods’. It is an alternative to alcohol and a large part of today’s South Pacific Culture. While Kava is a psychoactive substance traditionally used in unique ceremonies , it is meant to energize you while serving a medicinal purpose in your body for muscle aches or inflammation.
The Lake Mary Kava Culture Kava Bar perfectly captures the essence of this truly amazing and powerful plant! Come in after a long day or before your afternoon outing, and your new favorite Kava or Botanical drink is awaiting to accompany you on an island getaway at Kava Culture, where you can relax and retreat for a bit – or stay awhile – as there are always new and exciting events each month to keep an eye out for!

I have mixed feelings about this place. On one hand, the drinks are great but pricy, the atmosphere has potential, and most of the staff are genuinely kind and welcoming. The person coordinating karaoke did a wonderful job, but the Kavatender… That said, I did notice some tension during karaoke night. The kavatender seemed a bit overwhelmed and their approach came across as sharp at times both with guests and with the person assisting them. It didn’t feel aligned with the warm, communal “tribe vibe” that usually makes kava spaces so inviting. To me, it came across more as stress than intention, but it was noticeable enough to shift the energy of the room. I want to highlight that every other staff interaction was excellent, and I still recommend the drinks, the karaoke, and the overall experience. Kavatender look like she did not like being in customer service but understand that people have a bad day. With just a little more mindfulness and humility in service, this place could fully embody the relaxed, community feel that keeps people coming back.

I work in customer service so my patience and intolerance is extremely high, and I know this is a laid-back place, but being fully ignored is crazy. This is my second time here and it seems like the “baristas” (I don’t know their job title, no disrespect) have friends that come and enjoy the space, as they should. But the weird fake bickering while being obnoxiously loud as if it’s still not someone’s establishment, going in and out from behind the bar but still not even acknowledging the person walking in is ridiculous. Even if you’re on a break, just say that. The next person came from the back, walked in the bar, I’m still not acknowledged at this point, goes to the group of friends and the person I assume works there, grabs a drink and we finally make eye contact. I tried to act like I was on my phone the whole time to try and give them time to say anything or do anything and also ignore the weird conversation happening, but I gave up. I immediately walked out. I’m all down for having fun at work, but it’s still work. There has to be SOME type of customer service.

PROs: Superb drinks for every mood.
The friendliest kavatenders in the nation.
Zen vibe day and night with fun activities.
WARNING: Taking photos of the assistant manager performing during open mike night is frowned upon. You run the risk of her boyfriend getting in your face.
It made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. There was no announcement or signage that photography was not allowed. There were other performers and other guests taking photos and videos and nobody else was made to delete the photos they took.
It ruined an otherwise perfect evening.
I won’t be returning to this location.

Best Kava bar I’ve been to, and I’ve been to many. The space is open, clean, and refreshing. The staff member was kind and knowledgeable. The seating is lovely with 2 hammocks, one of which I sat in. It’s really a 10/10 a little pricey but to be expected with the overhead in this area.
