I haven’t had Papa John’s in over 14 years, and honestly, my last experience wasn’t great. I vividly remember feeling like I was eating a piece of paper topped with fairly decent-flavored toppings. Fast forward to this evening, as I was arriving home from work, I spotted a little flyer wedged in my gate—a 50% off deal for Papa John’s.
I debated it for a while. My last encounter was disappointing, and I don’t like wasting money on food that doesn’t deliver. But hey, it’s been over a decade, and surely they’ve made some improvements, right? So, I decided to give them another shot.
I placed an order for a large pizza and some wings. With the discount, my total still came to over $30, which felt a bit steep, but I was hopeful this would be a better experience than the last.
The Pizza
The delivery arrived on time, and I immediately opened the box, hoping to be hit with the heavenly smell of gooey cheese and spicy toppings. What I found instead was a pizza that somehow managed to be thinner than I remembered. It was almost as thin as cardboard stock.
Now, I’ll give them this—the toppings weren’t bad. But let’s be honest, when you order pizza, you’re paying for the whole package, not just decent toppings slapped onto a wafer-thin base. Every bite felt like I was eating marinara sauce and toppings straight off the box. There was barely any crust, and the overall experience was just… underwhelming.
The Wings
As for the wings, they were cooked correctly, but I’m a fan of crispy, slightly crunchy wings—not these overly saucy, slimy ones. They were drenched in sauce to the point where I had to throw them in the air fryer just to get a bit of a bite. That shouldn’t be necessary, especially for the price.
Final Thoughts
If you’re someone who enjoys cardboard-thin pizza with decent toppings, Papa John’s might be your go-to. But for me? This will probably be my last visit. Spending over $30 to feel disappointed again after 14 years? Yeah, lesson learned.

The people that work here are amazing! I was hosting a Pokémon-themed birthday party for me and my younger sister and I asked them if they could do two pizzas in the design of Pokéballs. They were all ecstatic to make the pizzas, especially since a few of them were Pokémon fans themselves! The atmosphere was great, the pizzas were even better! If you’re interested in a pizza like this, I would definitely hit them up!

I ordered a $9.99 pizza online only to find out that I had to spend a minimum of $12.50 to have it delivered. Papa John’s is 4 minutes away from me. I had to order an extra beverage just to get delivery and it drove the price up significantly. It didn’t used to be this way. I won’t be ordering from Papa John’s again.

I ordered the ultimate pepperoni and while I was eating, I bit into something hard and spat this out. I can’t tell if it’s a piece of plastic or a tooth but it definitely made me question the quality of pizza. It was cooked into the pizza at one point because I didn’t see it before taking a bite.

Nice folks but not good. Hardly any sauce, hardly any toppings which means hardly any flavor. Disappointing. I usually don’t order Papa John’s and I guess I’ll stick to that. I guess when you use the 50% off coupon, you get 50% of the toppings and the quality.

If you know me, you know I love me some Papa Johns. My deliveries always arrive either earlier then expected or right on time! The drivers are also always really nice and friendly. I use to order from other Pizza places until I tried out Papa Johns one day and fell in love, it’s definitely the crust! Overall, I actually recommend Papa Johns to friends and family when ordering pizza!
