This place is incredible! Their menu is filled with savory options and you really MUST try the chicken sandwich. We ordered ours spicy and it does kick! The kale slaw is the game changer.

I should have written this review sooner. Bright Spark is one of my favorite places in Ventura. It’s a great brewery, a great restaurant and and a family-friendly space for my two young kids. We have had family dinners, date nights, birthday celebrations and just casual friend meet-ups at Bright Spark. Anytime we have people visiting from out of town this is our first stop to show them what Ventura is like.
I have also gotten the opportunity to get to know the owners Tim and Linzy. This is a true family operation with Tim brewing and Linzy building an amazing menu and programming. They are so welcoming and are obviously pouring so much of themselves into this place. It’s always a treat to get to see them and say hi.
I would be remiss to not highlight some of my favorite food and drink:
* Beer: Sailor’s Veil Hazy IPA (pictured)
* Pizza: Sausage & Garlic Confit (the Labneh yogurt sauce balances this thing out – it’s to die for)
* For the kids: Mac & Cheese – this is the real deal house made and so good, not from a box.
I could go on and on about this place. Definitely give it a try – you won’t regret it!

We recently had our daughters first birthday here in the event space and it was perfect!!! Although the room was a little warm because of the kitchen it was the perfect day. Everything was amazing. The food, service, and space was just excellent. Linzy was great to work with and was very prompt in her responses to me with working out details.
Also a great place to just come in for lunch on the weekends. Always mellow and great food and great for families.

Just hosted a retirement party at bright spark. The planning phase- to the end of the event was smooth sailing. This was largely due to Bright Spark’s staff and offerings. Linzy was the contact person and all of her emails were so clear and informative. The party guests repeatedly complimented the food and drinks. The choices for gluten sensitive guests were so much better than other places. We brought in hand held desserts ( brownies, cookies etc). We brought a combo of tiered serving plates and trays for the desserts. We also brought in our own tablecloths. Appreciated all the ways the staff worked together to provide a fun and easy event. They even boxed up all the leftovers for us. I highly recommend bright spark for your event. We did not have any children at our party.

One of the most unique and delicious pizzas I’ve ever had. They make personal-sized, thin crust pan pizzas – I tried the potato dukkah and the flavors blew me away. Very non-traditional but oh so tasty. Would love to come back and try the Detroit-style. Beer was too.
EDIT – I think this style of pizza is referred to as “south shore bar” style, originating in Massachusetts? Would be curious if the owners can confirm. Anyway, very good pizza.

We hosted a bridal shower here for my sister in law. Linzy the owner was amazing to work with. She customized our menu for the event, was prompt with emailing and answering questions. The morning of the event we were greeted from the staff and the food was prompt at the times we had asked for. We were able to decorate the tables, dessert table and gift table. The cooks, staff and bartender were amazing! 10/10 recommend for events or even just to eat. Fruits and veggies platters were great. Pizza and salad were amazing. The cost of the event was affordable for the amount of people we had. I would definitely have another event here.

I cannot speak more highly about Bright Spark. Its a must go every-time we drive through Ventura. I am not sure if I should mention how delicious their food recipes are first or highlight their incredible beers.
Lets start Beers 🙂 First off, everyone of them is a masterclass in brewing and super drinkable. They also have a beer for everyone, who likes beer that is — they got an amazing Pilsner style beer called The Sauce which is light, tasty and worthwhile and even more awesome is their hoppy-pilsner, Greener Pastures. These are in cans, so I aways grab some to take home and share.
But personally, my favorite at the moment because I love a Big Dark Roasty stouts is their Anniversary Ale. At 11% this sipper is a perfectly balanced imperial stout offering an incredible mouthful of flavors without being sweet, which is often the down side to ambitious stouts like this. The rest of the beers are amazing too — their west Coat IPA, their golden stout among others..
Ok, forget the beers — this place has food options I wish I had here in Santa Cruz. Like their fried chicken sandwich and smash burger. Which one do I get ? Wait, they have delicious not-too big pizzas options. So difficult to choose. My wife loves coming here because she is very picky about salads and this place rocks the veggies.
And this place was designed for families, so bring the team.

Loving the saison. Local natural wine too, so there’s something for everyone.
Friendliest crew. I’ve seen a private room birthday party that looked so laid back — like a comfortable living room extension. And they’ve got games and toys and books for a family friendly vibe.
They do trivia on Wednesday and have a lively events calendar.
