I came in here for lunch on a Sunday- we were seated quickly and the restaurant was relatively empty. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming- a cozy spot to dine for lunch and dinner.
I recommend Saigon Tiger for the food, particularly the BBQ Pork rice bowl which was a 5 star meal. The bahn mi was also good although perhaps there was a bit too much bread, and the ratio between filling and bread could be improved.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, however we weren’t provided with napkins or silverware. I was disappointed because I ordered a beer and it wasn’t filled to the top. Overall, I would most certainly return to Saigon Tiger, and I have just a few constructive comments on my experience there.

We were hopeful to try this small establishment and delighted to enter with a nice atmosphere. However the service was quite slow. There was one person greeting the customers, bringing water, taking the order, busing the table, and bringing the food. He forgot to bring us water, and took a while to take our order. When we finally got our food, we were surprised by array of vegetables that included arugula. But then again, fine we are in Somerville! The weird thing was that my rice was way too soggy and definitely not jasmine rice. My daughter and husband both got rice noodles that were undercooked. Lastly I ordered Vietnamese coffee and he brought it out with a ton of ice and charged $1 for the ice that I never asked for. I would say the lemongrass chicken was flavorful but really heavily curried. The crispy chicken was descent but nothing special. I wanted to like this place but cannot recommend it.

Delicious! I got the beef with noodles and my gf got the lemongrass crispy chicken with noodles. I will say the beef was more of a standout bc it seemed to come with some broth and more meat than the crispy chicken, which made the noodles easier to eat and more flavorful. The side of duck sauce was a great addition to pour on the noodles as well. The atmosphere was calm. They were playing bob ross and a fire place on the walls and we were the only dine ins around 4 pm until a group of 5 came in. The two staff out front were kind and prompt. They brought out food quickly as well as the check and water refills!
Next time we want to try the coffee with condensed milk (gf’s order) and pineapple juice (for me) to go!
Our bill with tip came out to $35 for the two bowls.

I love bahn mi. The interior had a really chill and pleasant vibe, it made me almost regret getting takeout instead of sitting at the bar. They were out of pork so we got the breaded chicken bahn mi. While it’s definitely not the most authentic or even the best bahn mi i’ve ever had, it’s damn good. The pineapple juice was so tasty as well. It hit just right.

Saigon Tiger is a perfect spot for Vietnamese street food style items. The restaurant is very nice and cozy inside, located at Davis Square. For drinks, the Mango Lemonade was really nice and had a strong mango flavor. The Egg Rolls were fairly standard. The bowls, however were really good. The noodle bowl with Bbq Pork had a subtle sweetness from the Bbq, with pickled veggies, and a sweet and savory sauce to pour over the noodles. The Lemongrass Chicken rice bowl had a light curry flavor along with the lemongrass. The Banh Mi with Lemongrass chicken was pretty similar. Overall, everything taster great and I would definitely recommend coming here!

Saigon Tiger is hands down one of my favorite new restaurants to open in Davis Square! They are still ironing out their menu and hours but every time I’ve been there, the staff has been super kind and accommodating and the food has been incredible.
The banh mi sandwiches are the star of the show here in my opinion, with the chicken banh mi being my favorite. The chicken is so flavorful and the ingredients taste so fresh. I could eat it almost every day! The spam and egg banh mi offered for breakfast is amazing too. The beef and pork versions are delicious as well.
The spring rolls are really tasty and the lemongrass chicken wings are amazing, though a little pricey.
If you want to cut out the bread and go for a bowl, they have many options. The chicken rice bowl is delish.
This place is a sort of fast casual place and the ambiance is clean and bright. This is a perfect addition to the neighborhood! I’m happy to be a regular here.

Delicious banh mi and rice bowls in a cozy and modern space. Staff are cheerful, friendly, and helpful. Drinks were excellent, service was fast, and they were very willing to make me a custom drink (coconut ube smoothie, pictured).

They have a solid tofu banh-mi, fills you up. It is a bit dry but very loaded with vegetables etc. Good value for money. Service is pretty fast as well.

Food experience was 5 stars. My favorite banh mi to-date in Boston. Definitely come for the banh mi over the rice and noodle bowls. I’m not a huge fan of cold cuts (I love my sandwiches warm), so the lemongrass chicken banh mi was perfect. As fresh a banh mi as I’ve tasted: chicken was warm and juicy, sandwich toasty, lemongrass and curry flavor saturated throughout. Herbs added a pop of flavor, with a mild kick from the crunchy jalapeño. I got mine with a fried egg on top because life is short 🙂 I know they added bar drinks recently and the ube cocktail was pretty gorgeous, both taste and presentation.
Service wise, I wasn’t impressed. I’m not sure if it was an off day but it took me way too long to get seated and get my food, even though I was the first dine-in customer of the day. Will come back again to see!

I’ve been meaning to try Saigon Tiger for a while and I’m glad I did! This certainly won’t be my last visit. It was a cozy, well-lit space for a pleasant weekday lunch.
The grilled okra ($7) was delicious. The okra was fresh and perfectly cooked with a slightly smoky flavor, complemented by an umami sesame oil soy sauce sauce. A simple but delicious dish.
The short rib steamed bun was yummy, with tender and well-seasoned short rib and fresh veggies. However, the green papaya salad lacked flavor, mostly tasting of acidity from the vinegar. I would’ve preferred more of an umami/savory flavor to complement the pickled vegetable flavor. Otherwise it was a light dish with a spicy kick.
The lemongrass chicken banh mi ($13) was very tasty, filled with tender chicken with a soy sauce curry flavoring and a hint of lemongrass. The portion size was good and I would definitely order it again.
Overall, I loved the flavors at Saigon Tiger and plan to return. I heard they are revamping the menu, potentially adding Vietnamese soups, which would be a great addition. I’ll definitely be back for the banh mi and okra and look forward to trying their other offerings!
