I was very disappointed with my visit. The food was not as described on the menu. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and received only 8 pieces of shrimp, with the rest of the plate filled mostly with onions and green peppers. That is not what I expected based on the menu description.
The margarita was also disappointing—it tasted like straight juice with no balance or flavor. When I asked to speak with the manager, his response was simply that “this is how we cook here” and that this is how food is made around here. He was not polite or professional, and made no effort to address my concerns.
Overall, poor food quality and even worse customer service. I won’t be returning.

We stopped at El Sol de Mexico in Albuquerque in Old Town for afternoon drinks with chips and salsa. The restaurant was nice and the server was very friendly and attentive. The margaritas were very good. We ordered the strawberry one and the house margarita.

We stopped here for lunch & thought it would be good. We sat outside, as the weather was nice. Food was okay & my margarita was light on the tequila. Server was nice. Pretty pricey for lunch.

The food wasn’t that great, and when we were getting our food served, liquid was dripping out of our fries onto the waiters hand to the floor. The food did not look very appetizing, and the service was not very great. There was a point were the waiter reached over my daughter’s head to serve the food.

Food was ok enough to eat when you’re hungry, We got more service from the guy at the front then from the waitress he was extremely nice and polite. Warning enchilada sauces are way too hot. Waitress seems to not know what goes with plates and customers options while ordering had to correct her and show what was on menu. Spanish rice is made with parboiled rice, beans no flavor. Tortillas have my husband were peeling hard and super dried out.
Celery sticks I received were extremely dry and warm not cold not fresh and looked like they weren’t washed. Would not come here again overly priced food for sure. They do have very good chips and salsa.

While in Old Town we stopped at El Sol De Mexico. We immediately liked the atmosphere and the amazing staff member Marlene, so we decided to cancel our reservation at another restaurant and had no regrets. They have inside and outside seating so we decided to sit outside and watch the antique vehicles pass by and the sun go down. We started with house made chips and red sauce and margaritas. Then we ordered chicken burrito and chicken quesadillas with rice and beans. Everything was delicious and the margaritas were fantastic too. So glad we stopped in.
And a big shout out to Marlene who was an amazing waitress! Ask for her and you can see why.

We had lunch here today. The food was good and authentic. I ordered Chile rellenos plate and they were good with great Spanish rice and real pinto beans. Not fancy, home style. Adequate portions and reasonable price. The waitress was friendly and attentive although we did have to ask for silverware. No biggie.

We stumbled upon this place while visiting Albuquerque. It had a really cute ambience in location. We were seated quickly, which was nice. Chips and salsa were offered, however, ended up being five dollars on our tab, even though we didn’t ask for it. The waitress was kind, but was a little bit flustered with all the people she was serving. It took a couple attempts for us to get a refill on the water. The food seemed pretty pricey on the menu, I opted for a quesadilla that was originally $15. It ended up being $20 when I got the check because apparently chicken is extra $5 even though it says it’s included on the menu. My friend got the flauta plate which looked good, but it was smothered in guacamole which she didn’t want. They graciously remade it however they didn’t put any of the toppings on the side which she asked for so I think we kind of got gypped.
None of these charges were on the menu also so we felt pretty taken back when our tab was $56 for a quesadilla and flauta and waters. It is a really cute place and has a nice overlook of downtown but disappointed with the pricing and customer service for how average the food was.

Honestly, this place is fantastic. They’re taking such care with every aspect of the meals they serve. We had the asada tacos. They’re some of the best I’ve tasted. Ever. Anywhere. Also, the chips and salsa are elite. The salsa is homemade by people who actually understand how to make salsa. And the chips are also fresh and fantastic.
I’m an extremely picky person. Perhaps too much. But this place delivered and I can’t wait to come back to Albuquerque and eat here again.
Aside: it is just opening. Be patient. The food is beyond worth it!!!!
