If I could rate higher than five stars, I would. Not only the best sushi and Japanese restaurant in Sarasota, but possibly the best in Florida. Food is always fresh and of great quality, and sushi options are plentiful! The sashimi is also delicious with no seasonings required for it to taste good. You can taste the high quality in the fish! Their non-raw fish options are good as well, I recommend the beef bone ramen. With all of this amazing food, Kiyoshi’s still feels like a relaxing family run restaurant. With high-quality food, a friendly atmosphere, and prices that don’t break the bank for sushi, Kiyoshi’s is the place to go in Sarasota for a special event or birthday.

Best Sushi on the Gulfcoast. Possibly anywhere, but I know that’s a stretch, so many fish joints are worthy at least equally. The quality of fish is due to Kiyoshi who is personally responsible for the selections for the day. Hot Sake to start, then highly recommend the following: Blue Crab Salad Nigiri, Scallop Salad Nigiri, Sea Urchin add Quail Egg, Blue Fin Fatty Tuna Sashimi (amazing), Scallop Sashimi (so sweet melts in your mouth), Golden Triangle Roll (highly recommend similar to spicy tuna roll but better), Salomon Skin Hand Roll, and Lazy Sea Bass (Wowzer). Sprinkled in Salmon, Yellowtail, Tuna Sushi for the table. The only knock, the atmosphere is somewhat bland, but the food quality is unbeatable. Enjoy soon – I believe Kiyoshi closes December 31…

Best quality attainable in Florida! By far the best sushi you can get in Sarasota, and nothing else even comes close. At least 10x better than the 2nd best sushi and sashimi in town. Family owned and operated. I can’t say enough about this place. If you like REAL sushi and sashimi you will be blown away by the simple, over the top, quality. If you’re are the type of sushi fan who prefers crab sticks and fried fish, slathered with mayo and cream cheese, rolled up in overly sweet rice; you may not quite get what the big deal about Kiyoshi’s is. Trust me however, it’s a BIG deal! I’ve had the best blue-fin tuna belly I’ve ever tasted in my life here, with fat-content so high it simply melted in my mouth. If it were in NYC it would have cost more than 10x per piece what I paid for it here. Sea urchin, salmon belly, yellowtail belly, monkfish liver, perfect perfect tamago, all the best versions I’ve tasted in ANY city. Not to mention, they continue to innovate and come up with creative presentations and new combinations of flavors every time I go. Sashimi dominoes, thin sliced cobia, lobster mango roll in rice paper; the specials change weekly and are always creative and delicious. Kitchen food is also not to be missed. Short ribs were mind-blowing, even better than any that I’ve had at Korean restaurants. Sliced pickled rare beef was something I’d never had before, and also simply amazing. Every time I go there are new things to try, and I am constantly surprised and delighted. I will never get bored of coming here. Pretty much my overall favorite restaurant in all of Sarasota at this time. If you haven’t tried Kiyoshi’s yet, you owe it to yourself to get there ASAP!

Finally found a place to enjoy sushi her in Sarasota. The fish quality and the rice quality are both very good. The fish is handled very nicely and really shines through without the extra sauces usually found on sushi here in sarasota.
Real roasted barley green tea and a nice selection of sake and beer. Great, knowledgeable service too.
Try this place out.

Best sushi I’ve ever had! I had the chirashi bowl (pictured) and it was amazing. It was worth the price! The sea bass special was very good, I especially loved the fried version. Even the ginger was delicious

Good and friendly staff. We ordered 10 different rolls and all of them were amazing! A little long time to wait for roll, but it worth it! Highly recommended!

Always high quality food that’s delicious and great service makes this my happy place.

A few of my favorites are the Golden triangle, Sumiso tuna appetizer, and anything blue crab. My husband had the bon bon scallops (not pictured here) and it was fresh lovely and creamy.

Among the best rolls I have had so far. Very creative and tasty rolls ( try the tropical one, with Mangos ans dragon fruits, just amazing!). They don’t kill the food with too much sauce ( they put it on the side). Will definitely come back

My son and I visit this restaurant from Annapolis, MD WHENEVER we come down for a visit to #IMGAcademy. The sushi is the most creative, beautiful and DELICIOUS around. Love that it’s family-owned and look forward to this part of our trip each and every time we’re in Sarasota.

Ordered the softshell crab appetizer which was perfectly cooked, and accompanied by sweet potato, bell pepper and eggplant. The spicy tuna hand roll had a little twist and got it’s heat from a peppery sauce instead of spicy mayo. The chefs served us a cactus roll which had tempura corn in it.. you could detect each ingredient in the roll and how it harmonized. Combine this with a friendly staff and this is one of the best sushi restaurants I have been to.
