Social Profile:

Doe’s Eat Place was established in 1941 by Dominick Doe Signa and his wife Mamie. Doe’s Father moved to Greenville in 1903 and opened a grocery store in the building that now serves as the restaurant. The family lived in a house behind the store. The grocery which the Signa Family called Papa’s Store did well until the 1927 flood. After that, Big Doe Signa went into bootlegging to help the family get back on its feet. After several years he sold his 40 barrel still for $300.00 and a Model T Ford. Around 1941 Mamie received a partial recipe for hot tamales. She improved the recipe and began selling them. That was the beginning of Doe’s.

Established American restaurant featuring steaks as well as tamales in a casual, relaxed space.

Service with a smile and high quality food. Being from Atlanta, we have amazing options for dining. When traveling to smaller cities, my expectations are always much lower. After eating an enjoyable dinner at Doe’s, I can absolutely put this place up against many casual steak restaurants in Atlanta.

Just like the original Does in Greenville, Mississippi. All of the menu is good and the steaks are THE BEST cuts!!!!!! Has a large separate section if you are looking for somewhere to have a large gathering. If you leave there hungry, it’s your own fault. Tip: Wear loose clothing especially eating the 3lb Porter house. So Good!

TLDR; I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT!! We ate here when it first opened a couple years ago, and it was underwhelming, the steak was not seasoned, and nothing stood out. Well, last night we decided to try it again, and WOW, I am so, so glad we did! I have eaten steaks all over the country (at everything from hidden gems to Michelin star restaurants), and the steaks they served my wife and I yesterday seriously could stand up to any of them. I am beyond excited to have such an amazing steakhouse 5 minutes from my house. The sides and appetizers were absolutely delicious as well; I highly recommend the fried garlic biscuits and one of their staples, the tamales! They serve the tamales differently than they are typically served, with a side of chili to dip them in rather than in/on them. They were surprisingly good! We will be back very often!

First class dining experience, wonderful find in a small town in Alabama. While on the slightly higher side cost wise, we left feeling like we got our money’s worth for the meal. Our server was attentive, without being a burden, we did not have to wait at all for just about everything. Rare find. Highly recommend!

If God fed all the people with only bread and fish I believe he ordered the food from here. The staff was excellent and the food was fantastic. My wife got the burger and it melted in my mouth. I got the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. Will say anyone that comes this way to check this place out

This was our second visit.
I ordered the 16oz. Prime Rib, rare w/Pittsburgh Char(flame is used to char/crisp up the exterior). Loaded baked potato, minus cheese & Scotch on the rocks w/a nose(splash of club soda).
Hubby ordered Sirloin, rare w/Pittsburgh Char, salad and water(shocking )
We.. sat.. and.. drank.. water.. forever……….
Waitstaff kept Hubby’s glass filled, mine as well.
FINALLY, staff comes out and tells me a salad comes w/my meal, Ranch please, she brings it, nothing for Hubby. His arrived after I’d finished mine, Scotch arrived 1/2 way thru my salad, shaken, very hard, w/crunchy ice .
Steaks arrived, YAY…. except mine was waaay over cooked. Waitstaff agreed, apologized, took it away, returning seconds later a rare steak that was indeed rare and very good.
The ‘biscuit”/knot, whatever, is a tasteless wad of deep fried dough, I’m still not a fan.
The Coconut cake was a little bit dry w/very good frosting.
Overall presentation gets 1⭐️ and really needs work. The staff are discombobulated, although kind and friendly.
We’re going to try this place one more time, if we’re not impressed-that’s it.
Note/These 5 pics of steak are repeats of 2 steaks. Tried several times to delete the extra copies, Google guides won’t do it.

One of the best steaks we’ve ever eaten. This is a small town treasure. The food and the servers were excellent.

Food was really good. Flavors went together really well in the Mississippi catfish dish. I had the “darkness” cocktail which wasn’t overpowering, good flavor, and worth the $. The atmosphere was soft, encouraging relaxed conversation. It was hot and humid, though. If you’re “hot natured” dress for it! Servers were great. Establishment was very clean. There isn’t a kids menu, however, sides menu works for kids. My children didn’t like the Mac n cheese, but they have been ruined with the “fake” “stuff”. I grabbed a quick bite of it and thought it was really good. I would go back….

We went for dinner last night and WOW! I think the steak was the best I’ve ever eaten and I once lived in Texas. Sides were delicious. Decor and atmosphere were amazing. Over 1 hour from home but we will definitely go again.

No longer Doe’s, This is now a sports bar with Deli type sandwiches.

The menu is straight forward, very interesting in detail and has not only hot sandwiches but also Hot Dogs with your choice of toppings. The appetizers do not seem to be the norm, and the chips are a brand I never heard from… You need to try this yourself. I wanted a burger and pub chips… no dice.

Instead I ordered off the menu for the wings that were not listed. What I got was crispy and juicy wings! did not do the chips, I still want pub chips but I have to say, the wings were good though they were not on the menu.

The last added bit was that there were sports on two sets of televisions, and had to listen to info-commercials the whole time I was there. The server was clueless but awesome and got a 30% tip for putting up with my questions on why they call this a deli if there are no meat counters?
