I had never tried California Taco Shop before, but it was truly so much more than I could have asked for.
It is harder than ever these days to find a nice, good value, hardy meal that totally hits the spot at an affordable price; ever harder still to find a family-owned, local joint.
When I came in I was greeted warmly with a friendly smile, and the owner’s son was sitting at a table working on making a promotional video for his father. They had the Sevilla game on and we talked about soccer while I waited for the food to be ready.
We ordered chicken enchiladas, chips with salsa/guac/pico, and an al pastor burrito. Everything was delicious, sizeable, reasonably priced and totally hit the spot.
Everything was wonderful, and my girlfriend finished inhaling her food before I even finished writing this review because it was so delicious.
Give this place a try! Do not listen to any negative reviews, this place totally hits the spot if you have a hankering for some mexican food.

Amazing young man named Alfonso greeted my daughter and I as soon as walked in. He was very friendly and attentive. He made suggestions and knew the whole menu. I had to check the sign and make sure I was in California taco and not a higher end Flemmings or Camilla’s . He informed me it was his first job and he was doing his best leaning everything . He was doing an exemplary job of customer service. More young ppl should share this young man’s work ethic as he is going places.

The young man who provided service for us was very polite and courteous. He was like this to all of the customers. My mother and I went on July 22, around 3pm. I regret not getting his name but it was really refreshing to have someone who obviously enjoys his job.

I wanted to try California Taco after a few years not having it and figured I’d give this location a try. I ordered a burrito with chorizo and an order of fries. While I was waiting for my food I noticed the AI art placed as decoration. It’s the kind where the figures have multiple fingers and limbs and the text is all scribbles. It looked horrible, and honestly I would have preferred if the walls were empty, I can’t imagine eating there. But I hoped that the corners they were cutting for decorations would be put in the food. I took my food to go and ate in my car.
The burrito was so bad. The tortilla was falling apart, the ground chorizo was flavorless and very sparse. Overall it was 80% rice and 20% meat and everything else. In other words, it was a bunch of mushy nothing.
As for the fries, which I shared with a friend, they were subpar. Almost no seasoning, essentially just slices of potato.
The one nice thing about the place: the girl working the front was very nice and attentive. If everything else about the place was bad she at least was cool.
In conclusion, I would not eat here again. The burrito was only $10, but it wasn’t even worth that. This place left me dissatisfied and still hungry.

There are no public restrooms available for dine-in customers. The food lacked flavor and probably the worst in the area for tacos. Surprisingly, the tacos don’t come with lime, and there’s an extra charge to add it. Overall, won’t recommend it.
