I’ve been coming here for about 5 years. Maybe even more. But tonight something was just off, the vibe wasn’t as friendly as it usually is. The cook was not good at all. Every time I go I order the same thing. Didn’t get my two little shrimps that they always ALWAYS have given you with your meal. and tonight, I found Onion skin in my food. What if my 3 year old would have choked on that? I don’t know but Shoguns has ALWAYS been very very VERY great the past five years. But tonight’s food was not so great. I’m not sure if tonight you guys had a new Perón handling the vegetables or what not but they need to peel them onions right.

Love the atmosphere! Great food cooked in front of you. Sushi and peach sake are awesome! Cooks are entertaining and friendly. Wait staff are friendly and come back to refill drinks and check on you. Allergy friendly when notified of allergies (or if you are vegan) and very accommodating. You get lots of food and plenty left to take home to eat later! Best Japanese restaurant in town by far!

Our chef was awesome! Food was great! Poor communication between chef and waitress though. She got in his way while he was trying to cook and ignored him when he asked for things from her. And the greater could’ve been a little nicer.

We have been to this restaurant so much, I cannot count the times. Each and every experience was wonderful in all ways! The owners, the sushi chef, all of the chefs and wait staff were the best of the best!!!! We will miss them all terribly! To the owners, please know how much it meant to come to your restaurant. You ALWAYS greeted us as if we were your best friends and that is how we felt toward you!!!!!! You will always be thought of with the highest regard! May God bless you and your family always!!!

First off, I never write reviews about restaurants – that’s how you know I’m serious about this. This was the worst hibachi experience ever from the start. Asked for a sushi menu and they don’t serve sushi on Tuesdays. It literally says “sushi bar” and they couldn’t serve us sushi. The cook barely interacted aside from dropping the food on our plates; absolutely no “show” whatsoever. Vegetable portion was tiny and the veggies were undercooked, fried rice was just steamed rice with some soy sauce tossed on (didn’t even put eggs in it or “fry”it), and prices are expensive compared to the nicer Japanese steakhouses in Greenville. You’re MUCH better off getting out of Spartanburg if you’re craving Japanese. Way overpriced for such small portions. Very disappointed. Absolutely would not recommend.

We got there about 9 PM with a group after my grandson’s hs graduation, & needed 2 hibachi tables adjoined, which we got after only a 15-min wait! The cooks performing their “magic & fire” at the grill entertained our 4-yr-old identical-twin grandsons so well they even ate more of their veggies! Our food was DELICIOUS too, we had chicken & shrimp with rice & veggies & 2 sauces, clear soup, & salad with ginger dressing! A small cup of vanilla ice cream is served at the end. Our group had a blast, & they NEVER tried to rush us at all!! Go LATE, & EnJoY!!

Overpriced mediocrity. The food that I had was the same as I could have gotten in the food court of the mall. The difference was the food was cooked in front of me in an entertaining fashion. Additionally, adding a tip in for the service and expecting more for a job that I thought was worth 10% at best, was bad.
When I get undercooked rice and tough shrimp and get charged almost 20 dollars for the plate, there’s a problem.

Fun time! Went during the week, so there was plenty of seating available for an entertaining hibachi experience for a family of 10 people or more. Friendly and casual atmosphere that is worth another visit!

There was no show even though we sat at the grill. I ordered steak and a third of it was inedible fat. The only reason I didn’t give it less stars is because the waitress was friendly and the scallops were good.

Wow. I have had many bad experiences eating out. This was by far the worst. What kind of sushi bar doesn’t serve sushi on Friday nights? The food was absolutely terrible…I mean disgustingly terrible. I ate about 5 bites then got a to go plate and threw it in the trash when I got home. It was so bad that I was contemplating if I was going to pay for the meal. On top of all that this place was filthy. This place needs to shut down and let a real Japanese Steakhouse come in there. I’m serious, do not waste your time or money!
