This was our first time visiting a Japanese Steakhouse. We were glad to see it was spotless and very well kept. We were seated at a comfortable space with soft and sturdy chairs. Our server was Hunter, if you get a chance ask for his section. He was knowledgeable and very pleasant to talk to. We started out with a diet coke and sweet tea, crab rangoon and fried calamari. All were beyond our expectations. The soda was fresh and fizzy. The Tea had a great balance of flavors. We moved on to our main course the imperial dinner and octopus sashimi. If you haven’t had octopus, this is the place to try it. The shrimp, chicken and steak paired perfectly with the vegetables and fried rice. A side salad and soup came with the dinner. Our choice for soup was onion but miso was also available. The salad was great. I’ve never had onion soup like this before. It is flavorful and thin much like a broth. We finished the meal off in a fine manner. Vanilla ice cream tempura was our choice. A thin layer of cake surrounding a large portion of ice cream. Dipped in a perfect tempura batter and fried. Yum yum! This is a place to go if you have a birthday or anniversary but great for a date night as well.

This is a great restaurant. The food was great and the sushi was high quality I thought. The waitress was super nice and attentive. I tried both the sushi and the hibachi, both tasted great. We will be back.

This was the absolute worst visit… The manager was a black girl that was very rude ans disrespect we wanted to sit at a table not a boothe so we moved to a table for her to come and move us to a party table which charged us a gratuity and snickered and laughed everytime they walked by us. Very uncomfortable visit. Will not b dinning at yamatoes in pontotoc, ms anymore.

I was here a few days ago. The sushi I ordered was ok but my server was way below par. I don’t know her name but she wore glasses and had long blonde hair in a braid. She seemed like she did NOT want to be there at all. I could see her intention of being nice but it just didn’t work out like that. She is a pretty horrible server. Never checked on me and was just overall bad at her job.

If their sushi rolls are not eatable they will take your remaining food & throw it away but they will also refuse to take it off the bill & threaten you with the law if you don’t pay for the food they threw away. I was even willing to order something different to eat but when they told me I had to pay for the food that I didn’t eat I just could not continue to give them anymore of my money. Definitely would not recommend this place at all!

It was the worst meal ever!!! You would think at $73.22 we could have gotten a decent meal at least, but the fish was hard as a rock, the steak tasted like the grill had not been cleaned, the shrimps were hard, and the fries were so bad we were in shock! The only thing that was eatable was the side salads. I am a cook in a store and i can tell you that this was by far the WORST MEAL WE’VE EVER HAD!!!

This place is absolutely horrible. Rice, horrible. Noodles horrible. And greasy. And the yum yum sauce was absolutely disgusting. Taste like mayo. Looks like it too. A “super HELL NO” should’ve went to Mt. Fuji.. THIS IS DISGUSTING

The waitress was missing for most of our visit, out of the 4 sushi rolls I ordered only 1 was decent, they were missing ingredients and I was not made aware of that when I ordered I had to actually ask her was something missing when she laughed and said yes then the roll she suggested as a replacement was half done the tempura was still raw and uncooked then she charged me for it after it was supposed to replace the one with the missing ingredients overall I would not recommend and will not be back this was definitely a waste of $50
