I had the waffle sandwich with American cheese and bacon and hash browns on the side. Everything was great Definitely worth the stop!
Will stop here again if ever in the area.
We had the stopper and omelette, very good. I will say with the omlette the ratio of green onion and cheese are heavy . The red potatoes on the side were cooked very crunchy but not flavored, but if youre a person that likes crunchy (which I am) it’s good, just needs to be seasoned.
I didn’t know if you ask to substitute an item they charge you for it, since you’re asking to just change the meat that comes in it I assume you’re just replacing it, rather than adding extra items, nor did we know that they charge for refills. The waitress asked my husband if he wanted a refill on the juice but didn’t let us know they charge for an entire extra drink when they do so, so it would have been nice to have been told when offering to refill it otherwise we’d likely decline. I didn’t look at the menu too closely so it may have been on there but we didn’t know. Cute restaurant, food was fast, was pretty good too. The portion sizes are reasonable for the price as well.
“Homestyle cooking and genuine kindness — the heart of Clarkston comfort food”
Mama K’s is one of those places that reminds you why locally owned diners are irreplaceable. From the second you walk in, you’re greeted with a smile and a warmth that feels more like visiting family than walking into a restaurant. The space itself is cozy and unpretentious — clean tables, the smell of breakfast on the grill, and the hum of friendly conversation in the background.
The food? Pure comfort. I ordered breakfast, and everything tasted exactly how it should — fresh eggs cooked perfectly, bacon crisp but not overdone, and hash browns with that ideal golden-brown crust. The biscuit and gravy was the real standout: rich, peppery, and clearly made from scratch. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and every plate comes out hot and satisfying.
Service is exceptional here — the staff are kind, attentive, and clearly love what they do. You’re never left waiting long, and coffee refills seem to appear right when you need them. It’s old-school service that’s hard to find anymore.
Mama K’s captures everything that makes small-town dining special — great food, good people, and a sense of community you can feel from the door. If you’re in Clarkston, this is one of those must-visit spots that defines the local food scene.
I love that they give you an opportunity to “buy a breakfast” for people in need, posting the receipts on a board for hungry people to select what they want! #caringforcommunity
