From the moment we walked in, we were hit with aromas del caribe. We felt the warmth of not just the small yet cozy café, but also the warmth of the owner who was friendly & welcoming. There are no tables, just a counter with 5 or 6 stools. Everything came out hot & to order. We ordered the croquetas, the Cuban sandwich (el Cubano), the ropa vieja y maduros. And although the seasoning was perfect, we just had to try the salsa roja de YoDiaz! to add a little kick!!! We enjoyed every bite of the flavorful dishes we shared. We will definitely be back & recommend this gem in lower Westchester!!!

Omg, best cuban sandwiches we have tasted. The croquetas were perfectly crunchy and tasty, the house sauce was delicious. Never leave empty handed, we order extras for dinner. We actually travel an hour and a half to eat here. SO WORTH IT!

A hidden gem for Cuban delights! The Cuban is authentic with delicious hand pulled roast pork. The vegetarian sandwich was made with plantains, bean and the most amazing caramelized onions. Both pressed to perfection. Annarella was sweet and offered suggestions and a taste of a mango shake. Local, women owned, Cuban.
Small dine in space was very adequate where you can watch the action. Parking across the street. Must try even if you are a vegetarian. Beans are meatless. Support local businesses!

We decided to give Matanzas Cuban Cafe a try and we scored BIG! The establishment is small but big on authenticity, taste and flavor! The portions are perfect and the food travelled well, considering that we with it. Everything was still warm and delicious! The service was prompt and courteous, and the prices were just right. It’s official-Matanzas is our Cuban restaurant! Please give them a try and spread the word. We must do everything to keep high quality restaurants within our reach.

This place is literally three minutes from my house, & every single time we walk in, the woman at the counter who I believe is the owner greets you with the biggest, warmest smile. It instantly makes you feel welcome.

The Cubano sandwich is the perfect balance of crispy & soft, & the Pernil/Lechon is packed with flavor. We always order a side of yellow plantains (Maduros) & stuff them right into the Cubano, & wow, it takes it to another level. Absolutely amazing.

Customer service is top tier & the food is even better. Do yourself a favor & try it for yourself

My pictures don’t do any justice, because I am always ready to I eat their food!! I drove past here once and became intrigued. I decided to visit and I was not disappointed. As a fellow Caribbean girl, I love to support other Caribbean businesses. The place is very clean and inviting. I also love the decorations, and even was introduced to Albisa candle business, whose candles the owner of Matanzas has displayed by the cashier. She selflessly promotes other businesses. I have tried almost every sandwich and they are all AMAZING. Their cubano sandwich is the best I have ever had. The coffee is also sooo good. This was my introduction to Cuban food, and I am happy to have tried it here. The portions are generous, every sandwich being bigger than my head. The pastelitos as fresh and tasty. The owner is very involved and she is SO nice. Not only is the food great, but the customer service is exceptional. She opened this business to honor her and her late father’s dreams, and she is doing an amazing job. All the great energy, hard work, care and love that Annarella puts into this place and recipes is evident and is felt by anyone that walks into this cafe. Matanzas Cuban Café is an ode to the owner’s late father and a love letter to Cuba and its resilient people. You are making your father proud!

Food is over priced. Over rated. Over cooked. The only thing good here is the pernil. I got the ropa vieja and it was alright not worth even trying having eaten it now. The bistec encebellodo was inedible. The meat was over cooked and chewy, it was a waste of money because I had to throw it out I wasn’t going to chew my dinner for an hour. It’s a shame because the rice and beans here is great. But every-time I get food from here lately the protein has been a HUGE letdown. It’s always overcooked and there’s no quality control.

A cozy café with window stools along wide countertop to dine inside. Enjoy free Wi-Fi, charging station for your cell phone and help yourself to refreshing lemon water. The owner is super friendly, and there’s convenient municipal parking right across the street. Can’t wait to return!

What we ate:

Tostones con Mojo/Fried Green Pantains with Garlic Sauce. (The garlic sauce is a family recipe – absolutely delicious.)

Media Noche
Pernil, ham, swiss, pickles and mustard all pressed on sweet Cuban egg bread. (everything I wanted from a Cuban sandwich, but with a softer sweeter bread.)

Papi’s Pan con Lechon
Roasted mojo pork and grilled onions on toasted Cuban bread.(awesome)

Cortadito Bon Bon
Espresso with equal part condensed milk

Jupina – cuban pineapple soda (so good. I had to take a can home.)
