Reviews
The Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken are spot-on: creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced. A more unique favorite of mine is the Coconut Chicken Curry. It’s a refreshing twist that blends fragrant coconut with tender chicken in a curry sauce that smells so good that I wanna bathe in it haha.
They also have an extensive selection of Indian breads which are all fuego. Especially the garlic and chili naan (Bullet Naan). It’s the perfect mix of spice, garlic, and chew; ideal for soaking up every last bit of sauce.
Another reason this spot stands out is the value. The portions are good and the pricing feels just right for the quality you get. It’s hard to find restaurants in PB that strike this balance, but Himalayan Spice and Savor absolutely nails it.
Pacific Beach is a super tough neighborhood for restaurants. Too many great places have come and gone. Mainly because it’s so many seasonal tourists now. But honestly, I pray to the Indian food gods this restaurant doesn’t shut down. It’s a true treasure in PB’s food scene and deserves WAY more recognition. I’m hoping it’s just because they just opened and need to work on their marketing, but the place definitely needs more customers! So please go check them out!! You won’t regret it!!
Everything we tried was excellent, from start to finish. Flavorful curries, fresh naan, generous portions, and great prices. Himalayan Spice and Savor is hands down THE top Indian restaurant in Pacific Beach. Five stars all the way. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Service pretty slow
Ordered vegetarian food but taste was okay types. Garlic naan was thick. Yellow dal was okay.
When the food arrived, it was extremely oily. Indian food should be rich in flavor, spices, and masalas—not overly dependent on oil. Unfortunately, the dishes lacked balance and depth because of how greasy they were. It’s worth to note that even though we requested spicy level 8 out of 10, the food was not spicy at all and the waiter refused to give us green chillies or other chillies to make our food a bit more spicy.
Service was also very poor. When we asked to pack our leftovers, the server brought two very small containers that clearly couldn’t fit the curry. When we requested a single larger container, he initially refused and insisted we use the small ones, which didn’t make sense. Only after asking again did it get resolved.
Overall, the service was unfriendly and unaccommodating. We still left a tip out of courtesy, but honestly, the experience did not deserve one. I wouldn’t return based on this visit.
Kali and AT were our servers and they were both so sweet and did an amazing job.
I will 100% be coming back.
Food serving time: 20+ mins
Food order:
Chicken Biryani (4.7/5) – it was so good that we took some for the next day too. Loved the raita that came with it, was fresh.
Mix veg tikka (4.5/5) – ordered medium spicy, was packed with different veggies and well cooked. Taste of the gravy/ curry was a little bit on the sweeter side and everything went well together. This came with fragrant white rice.
Laccha paratha (4/5) – nice and buttery
Service: great, very intuitive staff
Parking: plenty
Washroom: clean
