The best Thai food on Solano Avenue in Berkeley. I’ve been here half a dozen times in the last two months and the food is always fresh with generous portions.

Not my favorite Thai place but it’s good.
Tried three kinds of curry (Panang, yellow, and red). The yellow was the best. Add some chicken and it’s great. Deep fried pumpkin also a nice appetizer. I liked it more than the satay which I felt needed a sauce or it’s a little dry. Thru offer brown and white rice.
Best dish was pas see ew. Loved that! Next best dish was the crispy chicken in sweet and sour sauce.

Staying at the Marriott and their kitchen was closed so I was scouting around for good food and I looked at the pictures. After reading the reviews I went anyway the rice was good nothing spectacular and with all the rice that was in that box it came with a total of five (5) shrimp NOT PRAWN I just laughed. Not shocked I didn’t tip either because the owner took my order at a distance, and was not the least bit welcoming and yes I had on a

I’d probably give it 3.5 stars based on my meal. I had the lunch special with fresh roll and pad thai noodles with veggies and tofu. The price isn’t bad and the portions are huge. The presentation is nice, the carrot flowers are a nice touch, the but there’s nothing amazing about the food. The tofu has no flavor, the veggies clearly came from a freezer bag because it was just broccoli, green beans, and crinkle cut carrots. I assume the meat would’ve been much better, and it seems they have a vegetarian option just for the sake of having it. The pad thai noodles themselves are pretty good though, a little on the sweet side. You can expect $12-$15 a plate for lunch here.

Prawn Pad Thai and a cold Thai lager! The foods authentic and the quality is great for affordable meals. It’s a hole in the wall and offers a great menu.

While staying across the road at the Mariott, I decided to walk around the shopping center and stumbled upon Tha Siam. I pulled up their website while standing outside, and looked at the “Chef’s Suggestions” list. I thought the Grilled Short Rib with Garlic Noodle dish sounded good, so I went for it. Everyone inside was extremely friendly to me and polite while I placed my order and waited for a short while. I like my food spicy, but I forgot to say anything about wanting extra heat while ordering. The gentleman at the register said he could include hot sauces for me, and I thanked him. I got my food to go as I planned to walk back to the hotel to eat, but when I opened it 5 minutes later in my room I was not disappointed. The meal was beautifully put together, and it was delicious. I squeezed the orange over the marinated beef, and I added the extra hot sauces: fantastic! I highly recommend trying Tha Siam if you are in the area.
