Hark! Methinks that Max’s Dawg House is a veritable treasure whenever we sojourn in town. The establishment is adorned with the most delightful Chicago memorabilia, lending it a truly charming and nostalgic air. And lo, the Chicago hot dogs they serve are a feast for the senses, each one a beautiful masterpiece adorned with mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, a crisp pickle spear, sport peppers, and a dash of celery salt, all nestled in a poppy seed bun.
Moreover, the service is splendid, as warm and gracious as any fine Victorian host might offer, making each visit a genuine delight. It is, methinks, an indispensable stop on every journey. Huzzah!

Visiting from out of state.. closest spot to our hotel to get Chicago style dogs..
Tried the charred way and it’s even better than original! Also had chili cheese dogs, crispy chicken sandwich, and fries..

Great place. What fabulous hot dog. Had the chicago dog and brought one home. They are DELICIOUS. Worth every penny fantastic fresh and the next day. Recommend if in chicago take the small detour and get a chcago dog from Max’s

Chicago style food is probably the one type of grub that never ever gets old on me and I’m constantly in the mood for it.
I know for some folks out there that as soon as they see the big V logo sign for Vienna Beef or the Red Hot Chicago that it’s “meh, just another Chicago style grill and they’re all the same.”
This past January on a rainy Friday night, my family & I were in the area gettin’ out of Lake Bluff and I was in the mood for a good gyros sandwich.
My wife loves gyros as well and I figured we’ve never been here before so why not. I’m actually glad I stopped in being I loved the taste of the gyros, the Chicago dog and the world class fresh cut fries.
Max”s is a gem in Libertyville and the local residents should be happy to have it. I can only imagine this place gets swarmed during lunch hours in the middle of the work week with contractors, car dealership employees and oodles of takeout orders.
With a competitor such as Portillo’s which is extremely popular in the city and suburbs which I’ve had my fair share of, I’d rather eat here. Not aware of any Portillo’s location at least not in Lake County that serves gyros or fresh cut fries.
That’s something that the owner(s) of Max’s can be proud of and I’m always happy to support local. I’m getting that craving just by typing this, can’t wait to head back to Max’s Dawg House.

Great beef sandwich, tons of meat, and seasoned well. Great bread to soak up the juice! Marinara sauce paired well with the beef flavor.

Excellent fry taste, slightly greasy fry, which I like. TONS of fries in a large!

Same good base hot dog with tons of chili on top. I could use onions on top as well.

It’s worth going back for the fries alone. More excellent fries, salted well and plenty.

Max’s dawg house has been our classic Chicago Hotdog goto for 30 years. I can still get a char salami and the best fries in the world there. Love this place.

Watched the owner sit outside, smoke a pack of cigarettes, and then come inside and cook my food with no gloves. This place is a walking health hazard that should be shut down immediately. Terrible service. Owner couldn’t even force a smile. Also, this joke of a burger cost $9. I would Never go here and would highly recommend nobody does as well.

A little hidden gem in Libertyville. Great food! Great prices! Great service! This place has a huge variety to offer on their menu. I decided on Chicago Hotdogs and Cheese Fries. The dog was Chicago perfect!
