I liked the ambiance here. It was relaxed and quiet. The decor was clean with calm colors.

The food was mostly great. All the nigiri were tasty. The omakase here is more or less traditional so don’t look for a lot of creativity here. This is the bit that I personally didn’t love.

The service was lackluster. They do this thing where they give you a plate of sake cups to choose from to drink out of. Well, our server shoved it onto my area of the counter, knocked aside the chopsticks with the plate but didn’t seem to care or even notice. This sort of lack of professionalism continued through the meal where they’d rudely, and sometimes prematurely, reach to take away the dishes or clean.

Basically, good vibes, good food, but didn’t love the service.

I’ve had omakase numerous times – both in NY and other parts of the US – and Sekai was truly a next-level experience.

From the staff showing us photos of the fish we were eating on request to the fun conversation we had with the chef while he prepared our food, the service and attention to detail by both the chef and rest of the staff was phenomenal.

The food was somehow even better, tasting even better than it looked. This was my friends first time doing omakase and they left with their minds blown. I can not recommend this place enough.

Our family had a wonderful evening here. The sake selection is impressive, and we tried one of their daily specials along with the standard omakase. Each piece was fresh and beautifully prepared, with uni and otoro standing out as my favorites. The service perfectly acceptable for a standard omakase experience. Overall, a memorable and enjoyable meal.

One of my favorite Omakase dinners in NYC. The extremely friendly staff enhance the already detailed menu that brings fresh ingredients to life on each plate. The staff personalized the experience and constantly made sure we were comfortable throughout the night. You can tell they take pride in their preparation process to provide an authentic and enhanced experience. A bonus is their unique ceramics that really bring an energy to the room. Looking forward to coming again and trying some of there other seasonal offerings throughout the year!

Everything just like what other reviewers mentioned. Delicious and on par with other excellent omakase experiences that were double the cost. But special highlight on their presentation! If you order sake, you get to pick your sake cup. I need a reason to get these little dish wares.

I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday with my friends, and I wasn’t disappointed. Everything was perfect — delicious, fresh, and Chef Shudai’s skills were truly outstanding. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

Some of the best Omakase I’ve had. The ingredients were so delicious and you could tell they were fresh. After each bite, my friends and I would look at each other silently while chewing, just in awe over the flavors. I believe the set came with 2 appetizers, 16 courses, and a dessert, which was all-in-all very worth it and filling.

It’s an intimate space that might be reservation-only, and the mood was traditional-feeling and vibrant. The staff and sushi chefs were very accommodating and great to interact with. If you let them know you don’t like wasabi or need reasonable modifications, they are very good with that. We got some Sake which were great. I would recommend asking for their recommendations. We tried a sweeter one and it went down very nicely. I also recommend offering some to the staff and sushi chefs if the vibes are right!

I’ve attached just some photos of my favorites of the night, but I can say for certain that each one was delicious. We will be back!

Experience at Sakai Omakase was beyond my expectations. I booked the reservation ahead to make sure I got seats for my anniversary. I got there on time and lucky enough to find a street parking space as you know finding a parking in Soho is not that easy. The restaurant is on basement and no sign outside, it looks like many omakase place like to do nowadays.

Service was great and always pay attention to what customers need. Excellent quality of food for the price I pay. I’m glad I picked this place to celebrate the special day. Recommended.
