AMA’s Mexican Restaurant catered fajitas for our wedding, and they were a HUGE hit! The food was delicious, flavorful, and served hot — our guests are still talking about it. The portions were generous, everything was fresh, and the setup went smoothly. The staff was very professional and easy to work with, which made the day so much less stressful. We couldn’t have asked for better wedding food and would 100% recommend for any event!

Walking distance from the hotel next-door.
It seems like a good amount of locals hang out here .
The food was really satisfying with good drinks.
The barbacoa taco and lengua taco had a really good taste and texture.
Of course, chips and salsa are always a fan favorite.
Good Aggie vibe.

We randomly stopped here for a bite to eat. The staff was friendly and helpful. We got seated in a booth and let me tell you, they aren’t big boy friendly. The one we sat on was made of wood and the seating angle was weird to say the least. The food, however was decent. The salsa was very watered down. Overall it was a good experience.

The chips are decent bag chips. The salsa is runny but is served warm & has a decent flavor. The queso was simply melted Velveeta with no added chicken broth or garlic powder or anything… and it was barely warm. This should have been fair warning for the rest of the meal. I ordered the Carne Asada with rice , charro beans, & corn tortillas and added a cheese enchilada a la carte. The steak was the only thing with any real flavor. It was decent. The grilled tomatoes were good too. Everything else either lacked any seasoning or the flavors were just …off. Like for all the extra unnecessary ingredients in the charro beans, the beans themselves had ZERO flavor. The enchilada would have been ok but for the fact that it just tasted old… like either they used too much Paprika, which can cause it to taste like dirt/dust OR they were using old ingredients. Even the guac was a one note flavor avocado with jalapeño juice. No salt, no garlic, no onion powder… just mushy sadness. And the tortillas were definitely from a package. The saving grace was their iced tea was great and the staff was professional & courteous. The food did come out quickly but I would have waited if it meant fresher ingredients. I did not partake in any adult beverages as I was on a work trip so maybe alcohol makes it all taste better? All in all, decent meal for the price. Perfect if you’re afraid of flavor & the only spices in your kitchen are salt & pepper.

Exactly what you’d expect; not good, not bad, just a spot in the middle of nowhere. The loaded baked potato was just cheese and meat. Tacos weren’t bad, just alright by any standards.

I recently visited this restaurant and ordered the chicken enchiladas verdes. Sadly, the dish fell flat in both preparation and flavor. The enchiladas were simply plain corn tortillas rolled up with shredded chicken inside, topped with salsa verde and melted Monterey Jack cheese. The salsa verde itself had an unbalanced acidity, and the cumin was overpowering. The rice on the side tasted old and seemed to have been kept moist by adding water, which only made it soggy and unappealing. Overall, the plate felt more like a frozen entrée you could easily pick up at H-E-B for $3.99 rather than a freshly made restaurant dish.
The complimentary chips tasted rancid, as if the frying oil hadn’t been changed in months, and the queso arrived cold, so thick it was almost impossible to scoop with a chip.
The atmosphere was dense and uncomfortable, leaving little to enjoy beyond the food. The only saving grace was the waitress, who did an excellent job and provided attentive service despite the shortcomings of the kitchen.
For a small-town restaurant, I had expected more care and authenticity. Unfortunately, the quality of both the food and environment was lacking and made for a disappointing experience overall.

Great atmosphere. The waitress was nice and friendly. We didnt have to wait at all to be seated. I oredered the shrimp quesadilla and the shrimp tasted frozen wish I had went with the chicken instead. The salsa was great though.

Nice atmosphere and clean restaurant. I had the fajitas on the servers recommendation; I thought they were a good cut of meat served well but a little under seasoned. I was really looking for that spicy savory fajita flavor and these kinda fell flat. The chips were served warm and the salsa is a bright tart tomatillo style salsa that was kinda watery. The queso was completely plain melted cheese that I ended up dumping my salsa into. Overall – good.

My husband and I pass through Hearne when we travel to see family. We rarely stop but when we do, we stop at Ama’s. It’s always a great experience. The staff is friendly, the food is fantastic, the restaurant is clean, and the drinks are smooth. What really tipped it over the edge into making this place truly special is yesterday we were heading back home from a trip and the AC went out in my truck. We have an elderly cat we travel with. She was not holding up well at all and we still had a long drive home. I called Ama’s to ask if they’d let us bring her inside to cool down (in her carrier, of course) and they welcomed her in with such kindness and understanding. Our waitress brought a small bowl and an extra glass of water for our cat. We enjoyed good food while soaking up the cool air. Thanks to them, our cat was able to fully recover and made it home just fine.
