Amazing catfish! Not many places like this where I’m from, so we traveled two hours to have a meal here with our family. Great catfish-whether whole or filets, and side items as well. Check it out! The staff were really nice and we felt welcomed.

March 2, between two and three…The cook had a very nasty attitude when my 89yr. aunt requested a small order of baked beans to go. My aunt did not want the plastic container of beans to go but requested a half portion of beans in a styrofoam cup /container. The cook became very belligerent and made rude comments that other people at the counter could over hear.
To keep the situation to a minimum all she could have done was explain to the customer that she was not able to for-fill her request due to restaurant rules and regulations. Instead she treated her like an inconvenience.

Loved our catfish and chicken tenders..husband said the shrimp was the best hes had since he lived in Florida…cooked to perfection…it was a ‘to go’ order and once home we made the discovery….they forgot to put us some hushpuppies in our meals. Happy about the food…disappointed no hush puppies.

Really great catfish!! Cooked perfectly! Great seasoning, the breading was thin and crispy. The baked beans were thick and tasty. The coleslaw was a good consistency and the portion was generous.

The outside of the building was very dirty and in disrepair. My sister, who is handicapped, could barely maneuver her walker on the sidewalk. There was trash and cob webs everywhere.

Ordered fried OKRA and Hushpuppies, turnips greens they were all amazing!! Great place to hit up. We were from Wisconsin and the chicken tenders were also cooked to perfection .Great friendly people.

Birmingham, take note, THIS is how you do catfish and hush-puppies!! We drove 2.5 hrs to get the best catfish in the state!!
We have loved Swamp John’s since our first volunteer fire department fund raiser in North Alabama.
Tonight we were in the area so we made a the obvious choice. Swamp John’s serves fresh golden brown catfish filets and hush puppies made the right way!
The catfish plate comes with 3 filets, two sides and of course, a big slice of onion and dill pickle!
Fresh, hot and crisp: you couldn’t ask for better. The catfish filet is cooked to perfection and flakes apart when you break it open. The hush puppies are well, the best around. Hot moist cornmeal with just a touch of spice.
Fries and coleslaw are on point! Staff was pleasant and helpful. Restaurant was clean and up to date.
Make the drive to Muscle Shoals, AL and give the best catfish around a try. You won’t be disappointed!

Please go back to your crinkle fries. The fries we had last weekend at a fundraiser in TN were not good at all. Crinkle fries are the best!

Fish wasn’t completely done. It was gummy on the inside. You pay a hefty price then they charge you for an extra tartar sauce which was about one tablespoon.
