What a great place to get sandwiches in New Orleans. Gets pretty busy, including people fighting for tables and even for the bathroom! Overall, the food and service was good, better than I thought! I highly recommend and would come back.

Each visit here is always an amazing experience of culinary excellence. The last time I visited New Orleans, this was my first meal and my most recent visit, I made it my last meal. On this trip, I enjoyed both a Muffaletta and a charcuterie board. The care and precision that is put into each cut of meat makes shines through with each bite. The flavors explode with great seasoning and the meats are so tender. The bread used in the Muffaletta has a great balance of softness, yet firm enough to ensure all the meats and cheeses are held together. My date and I usually sit at the bar and get great service and conversation. Additionally, the Star Wars themes throughout are fun and whimsical. I can’t wait to return on my next visit to the Crescent City.

I ate here twice during my weekend stay in New Orleans. Both times the experience was chill casual and good affordable eats.

I had the Le Pig Mac and Cajun Ribs on my first visit. The pig mac is what its advertised as, a fancu pork big mac. The ribs were well seasoned and easy to eat off the bone.

Second time around I got the Cubano as recommended by the cashier, it was a solid sandwhich that paired well with the tables hot sauces.

My roommate got the pork belly sandwhich both times, infact it was this samdwhich which impressed him so much that we went the second time so he could have it again!

I asked AI’s opinion on how to spend my last afternoon in NOLA on my work trip and it suggested I take a 1mi walk here and have lunch. It was crowded from a nearby conference but they aggressively managed everyone and my experience as a solo diner was great. I’m not a sandwich person. I’ll spare you the details and claim I’m not picky (but let’s face it, I’m picky). This was the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I ordered the habanero hot sauce for home delivery before I was at the corner on my walk back. I bragged to my family chat about my lunch and now I’ll brag here too. I had a great lunch here and I think you will too.

Great place for a tasty lunch. I ate lunch here a couple days while in town, and enjoyed it plenty.

Grilled salmon belly was my favorite, packed with flavor and served with fresh greens salad. perfect for a light lunch.
Close in second was the muffaletta, savory and filling.
The charcuterie I chose was pork rillon and duck pastrami. Both good, but quite salty, probably better enjoyed as complement to a pint or two at the bar, rather than eating on its own.

Quick service, you can order at the counter or the bar, friendly staff, tasty food.

TLDR: Cochon Butcher has always been a local legend, and now with a Michelin Bib Gourmand which is well deserved.

I have been coming to Cochon Butcher ever since the late, great Anthony Bourdain recommended it, and it has only gotten better over time. Fast forward to 2025, and seeing them finally receive a Michelin Bib Gourmand feels like well earned recognition.

I brought my wedding party here for our rehearsal lunch, and it could not have gone better. The staff was incredible. We called ahead since we had a large group, and they kindly reserved a section for us so we could enjoy our meal together. Everyone was blown away by how exceptional the food was for what is considered “fast casual.”

We practically ordered the entire menu, from the BBQ shrimp to the Cochon Muffaletta, the Cochon burger, and the boudin links. Every single dish was outstanding. The flavors, the portions, and the consistency were all on point.

The drink menu deserves special mention too. The beer, wine, and cocktail list is excellent. The Hogwash Old Fashioned was the star of the show. The glass is rinsed with pork fat before mixing, giving it a subtle smoky depth that makes it unforgettable.

We chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful day, and it made the experience even more enjoyable. Surrounded by good friends, great food, and the relaxed energy of New Orleans, it was a meal to remember.

Michelin may have just discovered Cochon Butcher, but we have known for years that it is something special.

A revelation between two buns. Cochon Butcher is everything a higher end sandwich shop should exemplify, from its setup to its menu. The interior is refined, yet rustic, settling somewhere between a butcher shop and modern restaurant. The line is long but moves quickly (10 min wait to order); the menu is straightforward and yet detailed. You have the options of a dozen sandwiches, a variety of sausages/meats, and a few smaller plates. We settled on their Porchetta and Butcher Burger, which were brought out pretty quickly considering how busy it was and our table size being around 10. There is also a bar in the back if you would like a few drinks alongside your meal. Speaking of, it was remarkably easy to find seats accommodating our party size despite not having a reservation heading in.

The Porchetta was hands down one of the best sandwiches we’ve ever eaten in our lives. Salty, some kick from the chili-marinated rapini, and a very good focaccia bread. Likewise, the burger was fantastic. The patty was delicious, seasoned perfectly with the cheese melting on top with a soft bun. The quality of the meats here is extremely high. We were originally a bit skeptical because of the price of the food, but we understand now that this is no gimmick or day-old meat you’re eating, it’s the real stuff. Add into the fact that they have a fantastic house hot sauce on the table and you’re just swimming in flavors. Others in our group ordered their pulled pork, mac and cheese, and duck pastrami sliders; all of which were fantastic and got heaps of praise.

Cochon has set a new standard in what we look for in sandwiches. The concept of a sandwich is centuries old, always staying what some would call “safe”. This place challenges that norm and sets you up for bold flavors with passion and care behind them. It is shocking to us that this place is only a Bib Gourmand. Easily could be starred. You should run here, right now, no matter where you are.

I got a muffaletta here because I hear it’s just one of those things in New Orleans you’ve gotta try (just in general). The place seemed packed but they served me really quick. It has a great vibe. The sandwich they made was delicious.

If you’re anywhere near the CBD or at a convention, you have got to go here. Yes the line is super long, but it moves incredibly fast because unlike so many other places these guys know what they’re doing when it comes to getting you food as fast as possible.
And the food is incredible.
I had the duck pastrami one day and the pork belly sandwich the second.
Both were incredibly good and while the oh-so-cool bartender told me that the duck pastrami was a small plate – It’s so rich you only need that.
This place is so great I bought a T-shirt.
Plus, it’s got Star Wars decor all over the place and openly gay friendly. It’s kinda heaven.

Excellent quality of food and service from the staff. Easy walking distance from the conference center. The hot sauces were tasty with just the right amount of kick. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it came with an extra side of pickles- score!
