Steak ‘n Shake brings up a lot of nostalgia for me and it’s been a while since I’ve been to one. It’s so different from what I remember. For one thing they have beef tallow cooked food, which is interesting as a choice and definitely made our food feel and taste greasier than I would’ve liked. I’m not sure if it really added much flavor, but honestly I don’t remember what the version before this was really like. I got the Double Steakburger Double Cheese Combo with some Chili Cheese Fries. Other than the greasiness of the burger, it was a good burger. I wasn’t a big fan of the fries. The chili and cheese are okay at best. I’d probably just get regular fries if I go again in the future. Outside of these things, the specific location was okay. You have to order on kiosks now which is fine except the first kiosk we used glitched at the end so we had to do our whole order again. The restaurant itself was clean enough. The bathroom was clean-ish, but definitely had an odor and could definitely have used some cleaning. Parking is super easy with a pretty big lot outside so that’s always a positive!

Ok, I was in the mood for a shake. It gets put on the pickup table and my name is called. It’s about 1 1/4” from the top. I asked if this is as full as they fill them. Yes, because the whipped cream would fill the rest of the space.
1) If that’s the case, we’re is the whip cream?
2) Where is the cherry?
3) Whip cream isn’t free is it? Fill it up or give a credit for the whip cream you don’t use.
Food was ok.

My food and shake was delicious! I hope the restaurant doesn’t get rid of the shake glasses, they were cool! However, I had no idea they got rid of the servers and went to kiosks. They were easy to use but it still felt kind of lonely. It also asking for a tip is goofy. I had to put in my own order and wait for my name to be called. I am not tipping the kiosk. I rather tip the people in the back.

This is coming from a GenX’r who remembers the way Steak and Shake used to be. I do not like having no choice but to order on a kiosk. I do not like having to scan the QR code to make the fountain drink machine to work(my code WOULD NOT scan and the line was getting longer behind me). The choices burgers have dropped dramatically. The fries were great, the burger was mid(might have been because I couldn’t get my mushroom Swiss which is no longer available and I was sorely disappointed). We would have left when I saw the kiosk only ordering, but we were starving and everything was packed. I’m sure the employees work hard and are great at what they do… But corporate America is taking away the “old” way of doing things, even when it’s unnecessary. This is just my opinion though.

We hadn’t been to this steak and shake for quite some time… Unfortunately, they no longer have servers. ALL orders thru a kiosk. ☹️ Our food was good however ordering was a bit troublesome. ☹️ Not an easy menu to work/go thru. All in all the food was ok however it’ll be our last visit there. I understand they’re trying to stay in business by cutting staff. But, it’s not the best decision. We used to see kids and families go there. Unfortunately, those days are apparently gone. ☹️ Not a positive experience for us.

I’m originally from Chicago but live out in the northwest suburbs now. The S&S locations I’ve been to, locals… are so sad. Employees even seem to want to work there. But THIS location reminded me what steak & shake stands by and what they were all about. You want some steak & shake nostalgia… this is a good spot if you’re heading that direction

Can’t complain about food it was good. But the kiosk and QR code for the drinks is ridiculous. Also the kiosk asks for tips for who?? I put my own order in got my own drink so why am I tipping someone. I now understand why this place is dead every time I pass. I won’t be back. I also don’t recommend anyone going there unless you don’t care to wait on yourself. ITS NOT FAST FOOD!

It has changed for the way you order inside and get your food.. More or less customer service is a thing of the past. The way its set up now you possibly will have no interaction with an employee. No waiters like the past.. You walk in, use a kiosk and place your order. You get a number and when called you go to the area for pick up and get your food and your own drink. You can still dine in and sit at a table but its all self service. They no longer take your order at the counter or table.. Saw 3 people working, one cooking burgers, one bagging food, one working drive thru. Steak burger was good, fries good. The taste of was good. Service, well the speed of getting your order was fast enough. Only 3 other customers in restaurant. They forgot 1 out of my 2 orders but corrected it. Over all experience was so so, the customer service welcome feeling is a thing of the past.

I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. It was fresh and filled with flavor and the price wasn’t horrible. All fast food is pricey these days. The place was clean and associates were friendly.
