TLDR: Lots of options, good music, place is clean, unfortunately the food just sucks
Came here with my fiance. We were unsure if it would be with the $16.75 price for the adult buffet, which is not advertised online, only the child buffet price is advertised online. The receipt also does not show individual items, so I don’t know how I ended up paying over $35 for two items that are less than $17 each. Maybe there was a card fee? The receipt doesn’t show what the extra charge was for, it only shows the total.
They do have a large buffet with lots of options, and that was the main reason I thought this place would be worth the money. However, once I was up at the buffet actually loading my plate, I realized that there wasn’t really much that appealed to me. Items were very inconsistent, some were dry, some were overcooked, others just plain sucked or lacked flavor.
The wonton soup lacks flavor and has almost no meat in it. My fiance got muscles and they were very overcooked to the point that they were hard. She also had a laugh at the bananas in the syrup… They were so dry that one of her banana pieces split in half when she tried to get a fork into it.
The ice cream is prepackaged, which stopped me from grabbing a large soup bowl and filling it with ice cream.
They do have good speakers and the music is pretty good, but the food sucks and the receipt hides a fee and doesn’t tell me what the fee was for.

Was there late night and the buffet was still well stoked, everything was as fresh as you would expect an hour before close and the people were very Friendly. The buffet was very delicious and and a lot of American style foods as well as Chinese.

Solid American-style Chinese food, good quantity for the price and pretty fast, too. Chicken was packed into the tray and I was happy to find some meaty broccoli crowns, too, stems and all.
The sauces could use a little tweaking. Didn’t get a lot of citrus flavor from the orange chicken unless I spooned out a big glob of sauce or a piece of peel; otherwise, it didn’t taste that different from my partner’s sesame chicken.

The food was good! They gave me the wrong rice but im not as picky as some Ill eat around it. I now want to try the sesame chicken or the orange!

Solid buffet. It is smaller in size but that means that the food was more fresh. They bought out fresh food multiple times while we were there. Not the best Chinese food I’ve had in Pittsburgh…but that’s not the point of a buffet is it.

Needed a place to eat and they were open.. both a plus, was surprised at the quantity of items. Out of the 8 things I tried, 1 was not the best… but what do you expect, bbq can’t be done by everyone.. the others were top notch. The sweet n sour is how it should be.

I ordered general tsaos shrimp and beef and broccoli. The whole meal lacked authentic chinese flavor. The beef was leather tough. The shrimp had too much breading on it. The waiter packed the bag so heavy in a small single ply paper bag and it broke landing my food to the floor. Is this place under new management or what…

I have been eating at China Garden for years. I don’t go as often as I used to, but each time I go they do not disappoint. This most recent visit I got vegetable rolls and chicken & broccoli w/white rice. The rolls were a little more oily than I remember, but still good. The broccoli was cooked perfectly!!!! I don’t know how they make it crunchy and tender all at the same time LOL the chicken was good too. I would have liked less soy sauce used during preparation, but it was still good! The rice, as always cooked perfectly. Buttery and delicious. Overall, I enjoyed my food.
