We are not from this area, but drive through Camden several times a month during the sailing season (May through September). We’ve eaten at the very popular (but dark and dirty) Depot Dairy Bar too many times to mention, but decided it was time for a change. We probably would have eaten here sooner, but the exterior is not eye catching and the fact that this is a casual sit-down restaurant is not obvious from their facade, signage, or logo. Perhaps a marketing consultant is needed. The fact that they’re next door to a popular biker bar doesn’t help pique interest or attract hungry travelers either.

We were pleasantly surprised by the very clean and attractive interior. The furniture, fixtures, and decor all look relatively new. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and effectively answered all of our questions not only about the food and the menu, but about the restaurant and city itself. Although relatively young looking, she was knowledgeable about the history of the prior businesses that occupied the building; a hotel, a bowling alley, etc., etc. She was also very accommodating of our special requests (salsa with my wife’s quesadilla and extra cheese on my taco salad). The menu is extensive and varied with everything from pizza, sandwiches, and wraps to chicken wings (boneless and traditional) and full dinners with two sides and a drink. The restrooms are large and clean. A private party room in the rear seats about 30 guests.

In addition to the quesadilla and a large taco salad, we ordered a basket of beer battered french fries (apparently this is a 4 J’s specialty). Our entire food and drink order (including 2 large soft drinks) was only $20 plus tax and tip, which seemed very reasonable. The food was delivered in a short amount of time and had good flavor. The restaurant was quiet other than a few tables of guests and a single flat screen TV playing an action movie at a low volume. The carpeted floor and high, unfinished ceiling also helped the acoustics of the room. In addition to the extensive lunch and dinner menu, there was an equally impressive breakfast menu. I think it said that breakfast was available until noon each day.

Since our initial visit in July 2019, we have been back nearly every Sunday evening for dinner in August & September. On each visit, we try different menu items. We’ve had the hamburgers (a large 1/2 pound patty), wings (try them with their awesome garlic parmesan sauce) fish sandwich (so-so), potato soup (definitely get this with the bacon bits and cheese for only 50 cents more), chicken cordon bleu sandwich (tasty but a little heavy on the dressing), wraps (can’t go wrong here), calzone (one of the best I’ve ever had), and thin crust pizza (great homemade crust). This week my wife had some sort of mash potato dish (a huge pile of mash potatoes, topped with breaded chicken ($2 extra) and garnishes. She got it with the garlic parmesan sauce on the side and loved it. Since it was too much to eat in one sitting, she took half of it home and enjoyed the rest for lunch the next day.

We love 4 J’s! The food is consistently flavorful, the portions are generous, the prices are fairly reasonable, and the wait staff is always friendly, attentive, and accommodating.

Decent place to grab a meal there sure isn’t much in Camden to give this place a run for its money. My food came out a little cold on a Saturday morning and it was not that busy. Also on a Friday night was looking for dinner and thought they serve beer here based on the signs outside but learned that they only do it through their drive through which was disappointing. Give it a shot and see what you think. I enjoyed it overall.

Very reasonable prices. I’ve had the biscuits and gravy, they were good. This time I tried the waffle. It was even better. The waitress is very helpful, she was quick to take the order, good about checking back in is, and good natured. Smiles are accustomed to riding on her face.

It’s hard to know where to start. I’ve been a waitress many years off & on in my 56yrs, so I’m typically very patient, understanding & a great tipper regardless (when the restaurant is busy etc) and I see true effort exerted. But, today my mind was blown by the complete ineptitude of our waitress. We stopped in about 930a this morning. There were only 2 other tables full & it appeared they had already finished their meals. Our waitress “Hayden” came to our table about 10 minutes after we arrived & asked what we wanted to drink. After getting our drinks, we had to tell her 2x we were ready to order. When she finally got around to taking our order, then apparently she thought her job was done. Literally. 15mins later, the cook (an older lady in a white cook apron) had to bring us our food. It had apparently been sitting, as it was completely cold, while Hayden seemed unphased and continued to sit at the register and chat with another customer. We once again, tried to be patient and didn’t complain, not knowing if she was new or what. We then asked her coffee refills. Then she went over to the coffee pot, turned around & started rolling silverware. There were 2 full pots waiting & ready by the way, but no…our coffee was not refilled, not even once. Just to see if it just slipped her mind, we patiently waited…. She continued to ignore us AND another family that came in after us as well. Not ONCE did she come to our table to ask if we needed anything or how everything was. Not once. She didn’t even bring us our bill. If this is how their business ran and how the service is on an average day, we will never be back.

Nearly weekly we really enjoy stopping in here and having a steak sub or loaded tater tots. There is a good selection of comfort foods. On occasion, they are able to serve some wild caught fish with fixins. You cannot go wrong ordering the large chef salad. The amount of food within it satisfies. Not only is the food good, you don’t feel like you shredded your bank account when it’s time to settle up.

Great food, great service! The food took a while to come out, but they were pretty busy and we had four large orders. Overall great small town family diner.

A quaint small town eatery with a mom type menu. Ranging from soups to sandwiches and comfort food favorites for daily specials. A very reasonable price and big portions in laid back atmosphere. I do suggest you get the 4 J’s burger!

We ordered chicken alfredo and beef Manhattan, but I would call it open faced beef. It wasn’t horrible but it also wasn’t worth the 45 minutes we waited. But maybe they were busy. Either way I don’t think we will go back soon.
