We crossed 3 concourse to get the chicken and waffles and extra special blonde from Terminal Gravity. The chicken is spiced perfectly, moist inside, crispy outside. No notes; it’s perfect. Waffles are fluffy and syrup is sweet, which compliments the chicken well.

We were seated immediately (at brunch hour). Service was polite and fast. Food came out just a few minutes after the drinks. Atmosphere was not crafted any particular way. The restaurant and bar are set up kind of weird. It works though.

I will never skip the chance for this meal when I fly. Best place to eat in the airport.

I love the OG Screen Door, so I was looking forward to trying the airport version. Didn’t disappoint. Fried chicken was fresh, juicy and perfect. Service was great. Not sure why the rating is as low as it is, cracking experience.

I’ve been to the “real” screen door. This is not that. It’s airport food, but it’s pretty damn good airport food. Fried chicken was perfect, waffles were perfect. That is their thing, cant go wrong. If I go back I’d pass on the drink and get a larger serving of chicken and waffles, the mini was a mere snack.

I’d been meandering PDX for a few hours given an interminably long flight delay before a redeye. Looking for something simple, stopped by Screen Door. (I’d been to their Eastside location many years ago and will vouch for their awesome fries and waffles.) My server, Ashley could not have been nicer, warm and assured me it was more than okay to order scrambled eggs. They hit the spot and given the flight was delayed even longer I inquired if I could get a cup of tea. She returned with a presentation worthy of a pricey tea shop. Thank you Screen Door for accomodating me and especially Ashley who made my day so much better!

Visiting restaurants in airports can be hit or miss, but Screen Door has become our go-to spot whenever we’re at this gate. The staff is always super friendly and gets you seated right away, and there’s plenty of seating, including at the bar.

I ordered the bowl with blackened chicken and added fried eggs — it was hearty, healthy, and perfect for fueling up before a long flight. The coffee is just okay, but there’s a coffee shop right underneath the restaurant if you want something stronger.

Overall, consistently a great experience and one of the best airport dining options out there!

In the eternal fight between right and wrong, dark and light, good and evil, we find there is always a shadow self, a being from the darkness that haunts our dreams and sows unrest like the blackberry vines that creep into our garden.

This is what The Screen Door at the PDX airport is, a dark and distorted other self, the evil mirror of the real Screen Door. Perhaps a better name would be Cafeteria Door, or Poor Cousin Door.

Why would The Real Screen Door do this? I suppose for the money, but certainly not for the prestige. Folks traveling through the high B Gates who happen to stop there for a quick repast are unlikely to go to the real version. It was in a word prettybad.

I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of the breakfast potatoes. The potatoes had an over abundance of Cajun seasoning that was thick and left the mouth feeling dusty and rebellious. Too salty by half, the potatoes themselves were soft, but not in a redeeming way, but more of a mushy way. There was no resistance, no skin, no texture. I could not finish them, which is unusual as I love my carbs.

But a sin worse than the soft, dusty excuse for potatoes was the centerpiece of the meal. The biscuits and gravy were a disappointment. The biscuits bland and dense and the gravy a boring, non-savory mess that did nothing to rescue the hapless biscuits.

If there was a brief light of hope there in the darkness, it was Ayana the waitress who was attentive and pleasant. She was a pro and perhaps should land in the world of light and serve food as it was meant to be served, well made with love.

As an inveterate traveler I get it, it’s airport food. I mean, what do I expect? It’s not meant to be fine dining. No one will ever run out to the PDX Screen Door for a fun night on the town. It will always be the dark shadow of the real thing. It will always be the poor relative that the family shuns and likes to pretend is not related to them.

So when you are wandering in the light and hunger strikes, don’t be tempted by the dark side, but like Gandolf, always reach for the light.

Breakfast burger is pretty good. Fried fish is plain and all flavor comes from the tartar sauce. Waffle chicken is good but not very impressive. The chicken tastes like those in KFC. However, it’s still a good option for breakfast in the airport considering almost everything priced double while this restaurant keeps the price here the same as at the other locations.

I have visited Screen Door at another location and loved the fried chicken. This time around not so much. The airport location definitely has a nice selection of food however the fried chicken was way over- peppered.

I tried slathering in ranch dressing. That didn’t work. Then I opened a package of grape jam. That didn’t work. I ended up scraping the crust off. I am sure a 1,000 people would love the peppery crust. Just a bit ocer-powering.

Now the creamy coleslaw and fries were spot on. Delicious.

The wait staff were attentive and smiling. Smiling cures all. Reasonably priced.

Truly disgusting food. No wonder there were no other diners in the place. This should be a crime to serve such food of such low quality. The airport should take responsibility to check out the quality of food being served in their airport. It represents a really bad image of Portland and its eating establishments. I got the so called fried chicken but they should call it TRASH CHICKEN! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!

I do not understand why a s/o of plain grits and a sausage patty takes 25 minutes..? Bartender/ Server then took 5 more minutes while she stood there talking to cash me out.. didn’t have time to eat.. had I wanted it “to go” I would have asked for it “ to go”.. then charge me for food that’s left! Skip this place!! Eat in the other concourses before you reach “B” is my advice to hungry/tired travelers
