I really feel bad for the employees there, it must be miserable.
I hope this email is received well and contributes to your company’s planning efforts.
I was craving an order from your classic establishment while heading home late yesterday evening (2/28), so I thought I would stop by the nearest one here in Nashville, TN located at 1717 Charlotte Ave. It has been many years since I have ordered from Krystals, and as you all know the locations have sadly dwindled regionally.
To my dismay, there was only one employee on shift, to operate this restaurant’s location on the third shift. Her name is pronounced Alexis. From the moment I placed my order Alexis was composed, courteous, and kindly asked if I would be okay with a delayed wait time. Alexis got my order exactly right, as I imagine she did for several drivers ahead and behind me. I asked her if she was the only person working for the entire night. She said yes. I asked if she had informed her general manager. She said yes.
While I understand the challenges of recruiting and maintaining dedicated staff in the current hiring market, I find this practice unacceptable regardless of her role. Alexis, a very young woman, should not operate this restaurant by herself, at late nights and early mornings with no security or supportive crew. Any threatening situation could take place during a drive-thru exchange or with appliances, while she is single-handedly keeping the business afloat. Alexis, should not be liable for delayed and/or incorrect orders, due to others lack of professionalism and performance.
I want to make sure that this is immediately acknowledged and addressed to the entire 1717 Charlotte staff and regional leadership. There must be accountability taken. I also want to make sure Alexis receives her flowers, properly and promptly. Her level of professionalism, transparency, and customer service should be recognized over and over.
I hope to hear from a representative soon, and I will continue to follow up on this matter.
I am writing to formally report a concerning experience that occurred at the Krystal location at 1717 Charlotte Pike in Nashville, Tennessee, on or around 7:00 PM.
Upon arriving at the drive-thru order speaker, we were instructed to pull forward to the window to place our order. During the ordering process, my mother requested hot wings, and the employee advised us that the wings were “frozen” and that we “would not want them,” which was already unprofessional and inappropriate.
After placing our order, we waited approximately 30 minutes without receiving our food. During this time, I observed serious food safety and sanitation issues. Specifically, I witnessed employees cross-contaminating food while wearing the same gloves, assisting with food preparation, then returning to the register, and then going back to food preparation without washing hands or changing gloves. This raised immediate health and safety concerns.
Due to the excessive wait time and unsanitary practices observed, we requested a refund. The employee responded by loudly announcing to the manager, “They want their money back.” The manager on duty stated that refunds could not be issued, claiming it was “Krystal policy.” When questioned further, he repeated this claim.
To verify this information, I contacted a manager at another Krystal location, who confirmed that this is not Krystal policy. The manager at the Charlotte Pike location identified himself as James and stated that his General Manager had texted him instructing him not to issue a refund. When asked to provide proof of this message, he refused and instead threatened to call the police.
After we remained in line and waited—while no police were called—the manager ultimately issued the refund.
This entire interaction was disrespectful, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Between the poor customer service, the false information regarding company policy, and the alarming food safety violations, this location reflects very poorly on the Krystal brand. It raises serious concerns as to why this location remains open without proper oversight or retraining.
I am requesting that this matter be reviewed immediately, including employee conduct, management behavior, and food safety compliance at this location. Something must be done to ensure customers are treated with respect and that health standards are properly followed.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
