A very good friend of ours recommended Talavera as she comes here often. We were greeted nicely by the hostess by the front entrance and we decided to sit indoors to get a feel for the ambiance which was definitely very nice and beautifully decorated. The place was full with the lunch crowd and they all seemed happy. The music was loud but it was soothing music. The outdoor seating is in the Giralda Plaza next to the restaurant and looked very inviting. Next time!

Our server was Ana and she was attentive and helpful. My daughter and I decided to share our dishes. We decided to start with the Queso Fundido Poblano and Tortilla Chips with Guac as our appetizers. The chips were crunchy good and the Queso Fundido was good but was burnt around the edges and could have used more cheese.

Our main dishes were the Enchiladas Suizas, which were delicious and perfectly made with suiza sauce to emphasize the flavor. Yummy! We also ordered Quesa Birria, which seemed overcooked and the tortillas were too hard. Since this is considered a Mexican restaurant, for a side dish I asked Ana for red refried beans that I love but I received black bean hummus. I explained to the waiter that I didn’t order that and described Mexican refried whole red beans to him. He came back with smashed red beans hummus style, similar to the black bean hummus. I ate a couple of bites and had to push it away. I had my daughter taste it and she didn’t like it either. It didnt taste like the ones I was used to all my life. Every restaurant is different so we understand. We chose iced house water to drink because it was early in the day. They leave a bottle of it at your table which was nice. They do have a full bar and I would love to try a classic Margarita there one day.

For dessert, we ordered the Tres Leches Chocoabuelitas. One bite each was enough for us and we had to leave it, sorry to say because we love chocolate but this was bitter and not smooth to the taste. I don’t know what happened to it but it was not edible. We will have to come here another time to try other dishes. We were there on 01/07/26.

There is street parking and we parked a short block away. Entrance to the restaurant is ADA approved.

Yesterday was my third time visiting Talavera Cocina Mexicana for dinner.

Service:
The service from our waitress was fantastic. She consistently checked on our table and made sure everything was going well. The only issue was the wait time for the food. It took about an hour to arrive, which is honestly unacceptable. The service itself was excellent, but the kitchen timing definitely needs improvement.

Food:
The food was absolutely amazing, as usual. I ordered the skirt steak medium rare and it was excellent, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp ajillo and it was also outstanding. As an appetizer we ordered the chicharrón guacamole, which was incredible. Talavera really doesn’t miss when it comes to food quality.

Drinks:
This was my first time ordering an alcoholic drink at Talavera. I tried the mango margarita and found it a bit mediocre. The tequila overpowered the mango and the ratio felt off. It wasn’t bad, but it’s not something I would order again.

Atmosphere:
The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant has a good vibe, although it can get a little loud since the space feels tightly packed when busy. Still, overall a pleasant place to have dinner.

Value for the money:
Our bill was about $130 for two people, which included two entrées, an appetizer, a mango margarita, and a Coke. Considering everything we ordered and the quality of the food, it felt worth it.

The first two times I visited Talavera, this quickly became one of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to. Those visits were easily a 10/10 experience. Last night wasn’t quite at that same level mainly because of the long wait time for the food. If every visit were like this one, I probably wouldn’t return. That said, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming they were just extremely busy.

For now, I’m leaving a 5-star review, but I may adjust it in the future if the wait time ends up being a recurring issue.

Overall, 9/10. A great place.

Such a nice place to dine in and have really good food. A lot of variety in the menu. The atmosphere really nice and the staff very friendly and polite. The gave us many suggestions and we knew they really know what they have. It’s good to go with family or friends and have a nice dinner night with moderate noise. Paid street parking or valet.

Had a great experience at Talavera with the service, atmosphere and most importantly the food! I was impressed and happy to see that they had added a whole vegetarian section to their menu that not only looked good but were delicious plus they were very accommodating in changing out one of the meals with the vegetarian beans for me. Prices were decent and loved the taco chips and dips we were offered upon being seated. Will definitely be back!

Jose our server was amazing, food was top notch, we got the shortrib to share and it was nothing short of amazing! It will feed 2-3 people easily especially if you have a couple appetizers.

Excellent authentic Mexican food. I’m now addicted to their fresh corn tortillas made from Oaxacan yellow corn. So delicious! And they gave us two shots of mezcal after our dinner! Lovely place.

My husband and I were looking for a nice dinner on our third night in Coral Gables when we happened to walk by Talavera on Taco Tuesday. The atmosphere caught our attention—cool, lively vibes inside with a DJ playing upbeat house and dance music—so we decided to give it a try.

We were seated quickly and given a sushi-style menu, but for tacos. On Tuesdays, each taco is $5, which felt a bit steep, though we figured that’s just South Florida pricing. We each ordered four tacos—my husband chose all brisket, while I tried four different fish tacos. The table service included fresh chips and salsa. The chips were thicker and rectangular, not my favorite style, but they tasted fine. The green salsa was extremely spicy, while I skipped the red since it’s not my preference.

After placing our order, we waited almost 30 minutes, which felt long given how hungry we were. Once we mentioned it to our server, the tacos came out shortly after. As for the food itself, the tacos were just okay. They filled us up, but for $5 each, they didn’t quite meet expectations in terms of flavor. I left feeling like the value wasn’t really there.

Maybe other dishes on the menu are worth the price, but in my opinion, Taco Tuesday here is more about the atmosphere than the food.

Tried Talavera in Coral Gables and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. The wait time for the food was extremely long, and by the time it finally arrived we were no longer hungry. The food itself was below average and not very memorable. Hoping they improve the service and timing.

Dinner at Talavera was great — the food was well prepared, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the overall experience was enjoyable.

That said, the complimentary tortillas could be improved. They lacked flavor and would benefit from being served with something fresher, like a small guacamole, rather than oily salsas.

A small adjustment like that would elevate an otherwise very good dining experience.

I had a large party celebration and the service was outstanding. Ana is top notch and made the evening unforgettable, she was patient, kind, and provided expert guidance navigating the menu for a big party. I would return again just for her. The food was delicious and the drinks were strong and expertly crafted. I had a large party celebration and the service was outstanding.
