We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon while taking a break from a long drive from Houston to Florida, and the experience was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, the service truly set this place apart. Our server, Amanda, went above and beyond—she graciously allowed us to sit outside even though the patio was officially closed and checked on us frequently to ensure we were comfortable. Her attentiveness and professionalism made this one of the best service experiences we’ve had.

She recommended the “Duke’d Up Shrimp,” which my husband ordered, and they were absolutely a 10 out of 10. He was reluctant to share, which says a lot—but after trying one myself, I completely understood why. I ordered the crawfish étouffée, which was excellent and full of flavor. We were also served complimentary hush puppies, and they were easily some of the best I’ve ever had.

Overall, the food and exceptional service made this a memorable stop, and we would gladly return.

This place is a staple in the area. They have a wide variety of seafood and ways to prepare it. Steaks are limited but VERY good. Our server, Haley, was super! Her attention and timing were impeccable! It was Monday so you can see from the pictures what we ate! The raw oysters were huge and some of the very best I’ve ever had! (And I live on the Gulf in another state.) Before ordering I confirmed the oysters were local and the shrimp come from the Gulf. (We support our shrimpers!) The broiled shrimp were small but good. The stuffed baked potato had been sitting a little too long but still okay. The fillet was AMAZING! Perfect flavor, and cooked beautifully! The bread pudding was good too. If you’re visiting the area, stop in and enjoy what they do well. If you’re a local, you already know. And while the steak was a little pricey, but worth it, the overall pricing of the menu was very fair.

Duke’s was able to accommodate our group of 10 when we called for a reservation which was impressive since it was a Saturday in December. There was no wait and our male server was very attentive. The hush puppies were excellent. I had the shrimp and corn bisque and it was the best! I had the salmon and it was delicious! Thanks for a fabulous first visit. We’ll be back the next time we visit.

They bring 5 – 10 crispy hush puppies when you are seated, do any others do that? I had a house salad vs fries from the list of sides, it was excellent. Got fried oysters which were large and crispy yet juicy inside, perfection this was my 6th visit over some years, consistently good.

Food and service were very solid. I kind of feel like a 2nd side should come with all meals such as a salad and side.

We walked in around 4 p.m. on Sunday. I noticed the entry rug was dirty. There were 3 hostesses at the front. The first table we were directed to had water on the table and some type of juice spilled on the floor. We requested another table. I noticed used cracker wrappers, a to-go ketchup top, random food under tables. The floor needed maintenance! I went to the restroom and it smelled as if it had not been serviced in a good while. The trash can was overflowing! We were bothered by the lack of management concern for the appearance/cleanliness of this restaurant. My husband enjoyed his gumbo. I had grilled chicken with steamed broccoli and grilled squash and zucchini. The squash amount was maybe 1/8 of a cup! The grilled chicken was mediocre. The hush puppies were delicious and I enjoyed them. Our waitress was sweet, friendly, and attentive. Mrs. Jeannie Zeppuhar, Mandeville, LA

The meal was tasty and very filling. I have wanted to try gumbo for years. Never had crawfish either. So why not get two birds with one stone right?

I ordered the Crawfish Etouffee. There was just a smidge of spiceyness. Only the most sensitive would be bothered by it. The sauce was tasty, but I simply could not place any of the ingredients. Crawfish, for any who are curious, had a texture similar to lobster, but a little tougher. The taste was like a gamey shrimp.

My waiter was prompt, polite and attentive. Efficient is a good way to describe our interaction. He was not put off by my inquiries and rolled on when I cut him off mid sentence. While not intentional, he graciously disregarded my tackiness.

The ambience was total seafood restaurant! They had some remarkable artwork. If the place had not been so busy I would have liked to take it in with greater attention, but did not wish to hover over people whilst they ate.

This was our first time stopping by, as we were passing through traveling. It was pretty good for a quick bite to eat. It was as advertised, sea food & steak. My husband wished they would have had more sea food items though. We dined at the bar. The service was great, the server was polite, fast and kept our drinks full and table clean. The atmosphere was cozy and lively. We had the grilled gator bites as an appetizer. I had the lunch platter with fish, shrimp & fries. My husband has the spicy fish platter. It was all very good. Even the tater sauce was house made. If we are passing through the area again we will stop by.

The hostess stand said 30 minute wait which was understandable at 6 pm on a Friday night. The wait for a table was less than 10 minutes actually. The waitress Cindy was good, but she was busy with tables. They had a new food runner who brought out a large steak with no steak knife. We waited about 10 minutes for Cindy to come first, and then the food runner to bring the knife. By then the steak was cool and had no flavor. Out of 4# of crawfish, about 5 of them were mushy and too soft. The shrimp boil, gator bites, and gumbo were all really good. Overall it’s a nice restaurant, and very popular. We had 4 adults and no booze. Our bill without tip was $125. Sorry I didn’t get more photos.

Out front they have several flags hanging over the sidewalk too low. With the breeze they were hitting people while walking. I don’t like to see frayed flags, or flags so low they touch people. Seems like a poor way to display the flags.
