Been coming here for yeeaaars and it’s still my favorite Arcata watering hole. Great ambience, good service, fun people. Love the variety of NA drinks like the local kombucha, tea, and now kava! Although it’s different without the pie place, they’ve adapted nicely with their food options!

Comfy, warm taproom with good pies. Service was excellent. Beer selection is nice, they have ciders but also other beer styles which we appreciated. We got the chicken pot pie, veggie empanada, and chocolate mousse and lemon raspberry pie. 10/10 recommend stopping by here!

Great selection of ciders with good descriptions of dry, semi-dry, sweet, etc. A variety of fruit ciders. About 4 beer choices for those who want beer. Also has a soda bar with flavors to add to make individual sodas!

This place used to be bittersweet…literally not figuratively, that was it’s name. A large selection of ciders ranging from dry as the Mojave desert to sweet as your grandmothers cookies awaits you in a post industrial decor with ample outside seating. There are some beers on tap and local kombucha for those who prefer not to indulge in the alcoholic side of fermentation. If you get hungry a slice of Humboldt pie is also part of the establishment , serving delicious hand pies, chicken/veggie pot pies and full size sweet and savory pies.
The pies are truly delicious and made with quality local ingredients and the empanadas are on par with some of the best I have had in South America. A welcome addition to the downtown food and drink offerings, the local cider bar is worth checking out because as Henry David Thoreau said, “the apple is the noblest of fruits.”

AMAZING ciders on tap! We stopped here on our road trip down the coast after falling in love with ciders in the PNW. Such a great diversity of selections – our favorite was the pineapple cider. We enjoyed a slice of pie from the shop next door and had a wonderful meal (of pie and cider) on their lovely covered patio on a rainy day.

Great place. So lively and welcoming. Lots of seating outdoors. Bar is nice but a bit tight of quarters indoors.
Ciders are super crisp and delicious. Beers are plentiful and bold.
Delicious pie for after.
All-around such a quality establishment.

So been here often because friends meet here but service can vary greatly. One time, the bartender questioned my ID, and another time, the beer tasted awful and I asked for something different, full glass, but NOPE, sorry. This wasn’t my first drink. Most places don’t have and issue…so don’t expect any great service…guess they deal with too many college kids to treat customers they way other establishments do.

Friendly staff, shout out to Tyler (he’s the coolest). Tons of great ciders, and they even do cider combinations, how fun!
Fun fact: slice of humboldt pie is next door but is not always open BUT the local cider bar has some of their pies in their fridge!

This is for Tyler. We held hands for a brief moment over the counter after a high-five/fist bump gone wrong (or right?!!?). I ordered my thai food with extra heat, and BOY did the heat deliver. Hope your day turned around at that point, my dude.
