This was a surprising find in Colorado – the menu was amazing and it was hard to narrow it down! The escargot and its sauce was great, and I had a mussel special which was so good, it should be a menu item! The bartender had spot-on recommendations and provided a perfect mix of conversation and privacy. I’ll definitely be back 🙂

Bistro 317 is one of those rare gems that blends warmth, artistry, and genuine culinary craft right in the heart of Downtown Grand Junction. From the moment we sat down, the experience felt thoughtfully curated, and the dishes that followed only elevated that impression.
I ordered the chef’s special beef stroganoff, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The beef was perfectly tender, almost melting at the touch of a fork, and the white wine mushroom cream sauce was rich without being overwhelming. Serving it over a bed of mashed potatoes was a delightful touch—the textures played beautifully together. The parsley garnish and edible flower added not just color but a subtle freshness that tied the whole plate together.
My friend enjoyed the vegetarian Portobello pasta, and that dish proved just as impressive. The balance was masterful: the earthiness of the mushrooms, the gentle sweetness from the butternut squash, and the tender bite of kale all complemented one another seamlessly. The toasted almonds and blue cheese brought it to another level, adding depth and a luxurious richness. It’s absolutely a dish worth returning for.
We started with the baked brie served alongside roasted garlic cloves and Merlot jam with slices of baguette. Every component was spot-on—the brie warm and indulgent, the garlic roasted to velvety perfection, and the jam offering a lovely whisper of sweetness. Paired with a glass of Fess Parker Chardonnay, which carried a beautifully balanced bouquet and a buttery, crisp finish, the starter set the tone for a memorable evening.
For dessert, the crème brûlée exceeded expectations. It struck that delicate balance of being creamy and smooth without leaning too sweet. We also sampled a selection of macarons; while the flavors were pleasant, the texture leaned denser than traditional macarons and didn’t stand out as much as the other dishes.
Overall, our experience at Bistro 317 was truly wonderful. The care in each dish, the thoughtful pairings, and the inviting atmosphere made for an evening we thoroughly enjoyed. Aside from the macarons, everything was outstanding, and we will absolutely be returning. Bistro 317 is a welcome addition to downtown dining—elegant, heartfelt, and delicious.

I went there in the early afternoon to get pastries for Valentine’s Day breakfast and bought the 4 remaining croissants. The cherry ones were delicious!

And I learned they have a buy 4 get 1 free and that they are open for breakfast. Really good to know.

Stopped in for the first time today and unfortunately the entire experience was disappointing. From the slow, inattentive service to the chipped plate and underwhelming food, it just missed the mark.
After handing us menus, our server went into the kitchen to eat his lunch while we waited for him to return and take our order. When he finally came back, two people in our group ordered pasta salad as their side, only to be told—after he checked the kitchen—that they were out. We were then offered sweet potato fries as an alternative, but were never informed there would be a $3 upcharge.
When the food arrived, the presentation was very poor and unappetizing. The ham and cheese croissant looked hastily assembled and smashed rather than carefully prepared.
Overall, it was not a pleasant experience, and sadly, it’s not a restaurant we plan to return to.

The restaurant is beautiful, and you can tell the owners care. Our waiter was very helpful, and even the other waitress checked in on us which is rare. However, it was after 1 pm and I ordered a burger, and they had to check with the chef if that was possible. Although it was listed on the lunch menu. Then, I watched as my waiter asked the chef and a small hissy fit ensued. They obliged. I ordered it medium well and they told me it could take up to 20 minutes which we had time. It came and was so cooked it was hard to chew. A waste of brie. The pastries and dessert were divine. I may stick to those if I stop in the future. We actually had friends sitting on the patio and a pair that stopped in solely for pastries. They all had better experiences due to the nature of their food orders not having to watch the chef- ha!

Good restaurant on Main Street. The service is excellent. Drinks came out quickly. The Manhatten was less sweet than others which was good and the Old Fashioned was served on a large ice cube. They have a happy hour with a few small plates, beer, wine and well liquor for $6 each. The burger was good, but overcooked. We ordered medium and it came out well done. Terrific fries. The goat cheese salad was nice . There are a lot of fish choices on the menu and we will come back to try some. The bar is cozy . The dining room is comfortable if not a bit bright.

This is my first review of 317 after they rebranded, it was only for brunch and the review will be updated as I visit more. That said the interior space is comfortable and the staff is awesome and super helpful. They didn’t have the breakfast croissant since it’s Christmas Eve but it sounds p good. The pear pastry was really good, the quiche was OK though I like it with more veggies and a firmer set on the eggs, overall flavor was good. The plant based sausage roll/pastry thing was a little too much for me; think sausage log wrapped in puff pastry. The mimosas were great. I’m looking forward to trying the dinner there and updating the review.

If you like French pastries you can’t go wrong but it’s not quite a brunchy place like some other restaurants.

I had a great dinner, walked in (as a party of 1) 30 min before kitchen closed and still had a delicious dinner! Important to note, dinner ends at 8 but the bar is open until it dies out here. Drinks are a little pricier than I would like – $22 for two Jameson & ginger ale shorts… But overall I got what I was craving for dinner (big salad and crab cake) and enjoyed my experience thanks to the bartender Dakota. Expensive dinner for a party of 1, but it was delicious and I enjoyed the warm bright ambiance of the bar. Thanks bistro!
